Yesterday I got my first turtle. It is a red-eared slider. I was told to by the vet bring a stool sample to his check up. Being new to turtles I'm not sure what turtle stool looks like (I can see stuff floating, but I'm not sure what is stool). After I determine what is what I'm not sure how I should collect it and transport it to the vet.

I live in Miami, FL and my daughter received a small turtle as a gift. She no longer wants it, I can't give it back to where it came from, I don't want to keep it in the tank, nor release it into the wild. Does anyone have an idea how to humanely get rid of it at no cost?

I have tried to feed him the turtle pellets that I bought for him but he won't eat them even when I break them up very small. I know that he is a carnivore as a baby and will eat shrimp but I want to know if dried shrimp (broken up of course since he is so small) is okay to feed him.

Hi I have a pet red tail boa and he's been acting strange the past couple of days. He won't eat but that may be because he's int he shedding process. Well I just now casually looked over at his cage and noticed his head was under the water and I freaked out. I opened his caged and touched him and he started moving around. I pulled his head out of the water and he was breathing fine and acting normal. I just don't understand why his head would be underwater in the firt place and about how long can he be underwater before I should get worried? HELP!

I'm thinking of getting a corn snake and saw a premade snake starter kit at the store. It has 2 lamps, water bowl, temp / humidity gages, hide box kinda thing, 20 gallon tank, etc. Should I purchase this if I'm buying a baby? or is 20 gallons to much space for the baby snake? and would it be better to purchase a smaller tank and buy everything seperately?

We have seen a chameleon in a pet shop. It is £95. It is also a fantastic and very friendly creature. I want it. But I don't want it to die just after I get it home. What is the best way to look after it?
And, yes - it changed colour in front of my very eyes (interestingly only the side towards us changed to the blue of the background. The other side stayed the same colour as that of the background in the vivarium. How does it do this?)

To summerise:
How do I look after it?
How does it change colour?
How long is their average lifespan?
How big will it get?

Thanks.

Ok, the skin color is a whitish color and it has a brown shell. It has small black or dark brown spots on its face, neck and arms. I have pics but I don't know how to post them.

Our 4-5 inch red eared slider turtle got out of its aquarium last night. We have looked everywhere, is it possible that our dog ate it, shell and all?

...just cause they swim around erratically sometimes, one has lots of energy and swims about and into things, the other just curls up in her shell.... are they just odd? how smart are turtles anyway?
