Use tap water (add a few drops of "Chlor-Out" or another chlorine & chloramine remover, you can buy it at any pet store).
Or you can just get some water out of a local pond.
Distilled water is not such a good idea. Think about it, where in the natural world would a turtle encounter distilled water?

I'm not sure but I don't think turtles swim around in purified water. Leave a bucket outside and catch some rain water and try using that. If you're near a stream or pond I would get some from there. It's probably alright to use some tap water mixed with other water. Probably would be best to search the web for information on turtle care and habitat maintenance.

No, it is not okay to give your turtle distilled water. Distilled water is completely void of minerals and may cause damage to your pet. In humans, drinking distilled water can lead to heart failure. The only things I know of that really benefit from distilled water are carnivorous plants- they get minerals from the bugs they eat and can't handle chlorine or mineral build-up. You are better of giving your turtle spring water or filtered water, tap if you need to.

Turtles live in water, and drink water- but they do not absorb it in their skin or breathe it like the fish and amphibians do.
Pretty much any water you can drink, they can live in. Distilled is OK, but expensive. Plain tap water is fine, but MAY be a bit high on chlorine- which you can remove for free by just letting the water sit in an open container for a day. (By the way, most keepers find that the chlorine level in their tap water does not seem to affect their turtles one way or the other.)
I know stores really want you to buy dechlorinators, calcium blocks, etc.- but most of that stuff is a waste of money.

Yes, it is probably fine, however you can simply use tap water and treat it with a dechlorinator or other products such as reptisafe to remove the minerals and chlorine in the water. You should have at least a 20 gallon tank so distilled water shouldn't be an option unless you have a few hundred bottles lying around which would be wierd considering it tastes awful..spring water isn't practical either-chlorine may agitate a turtle's eyes so yes, it is necessary and no, don't use pond water. Also you can use a python no spill to fill up your tank and empty it (hooks up to sink, different than manual siphon) which you should be doing once per month..

You will need a large tank (ten gallons per inch of shell), a water heater, a great filter, a dock, two thermomters (78 F water, 90 F basking), a heat bulb, a UVB bulb, placed in two fixtures (clamp lamps are good) ten inches from the basking area...don't use gravel as the turtles will eat it and die

NO NO NO! It will mess up the mineral balance of your turtles body as it tries to balance itself by pulling minerals out of the turtle when it drinks. Use regular tap water (you can dechlorinate it if you want to, but usually not necessary). See www.austinsturtlepage.com for more info (they are very similar in care to RES)

no. go for spring. distilled water takes out all of the good stuff (minerals, etc.) for your turtle. unfiltered water is bad too cause it has chlorine and fluorine and all that junk. unfiltered and/or unchanged water leads to fungal infections, bacterial infections, and other bad stuff. so keep it clean. and try to have spring water all the time.

It is better to use tap with conditioner and not distilled
