I'm looking into getting a bearded dragon, but I've had some serious problems with buying pets (fish) that die very soon after being bought, like they were already sick when purchased. I'm terrified of spending the money on a bearded dragon and then having it die within weeks from some weird disease it got in a pet store.

Does anyone have any tips for selecting a healthy beardie? Are there any warning signs to look for?

I rescued a turtle that was in the middle of the street and have had it around 5 months, is it too late to release him back to a creek or river? He is only about two or three inches in size. Will he still know how to live on his own?

I have 2 baby RES turtles, in a ten gallon tank for now, and I went to the pet store looking for basking lights. The pet store owner told me that it was fine to get a 60 watt bulb and it also offers UVA. I'm just afraid that it might not be hot enough for my turtles.

Help, one of my RES loves to burrow itself in the cracks of the rocks I have in the water and I know it's not stuck because I've seen it get out, but now it looks like it's asleep and it's face down in the water. Will it drown? I thought RES needed air from time to time as they are only semi-aquatic....help!

What is it and how do I prevent it? I was looking at a food chart and I noticed that almost all of the greens had high calcium and oxalates. I know that the two mixed together can cause MBD. How do I feed my bearded dragon these greens without him getting MBD? (I might be overreacting, I'm just stressed about him. Please tell me if I am overreacting)

any other tips would help. I do have a vet for him

We just bought him 8 days ago. As far as we know he's about 6 months old. The pet store wasn't quite sure his exact age. They said to feed him mealworms and crickets along with his fruits and veggies. He won't touch the veggies or the fruit. He's eaten a couple peices out of my hand, but that's it. He will eat about 10 crickets a day on the average. The mealworms he was eating, but not so much anymore. Should I be worried? He's still as active as he was when we first brought him home. What are the best things that I should feed him? Every pet store I have been to has told me mealworms are great for them, but when I look around in these forums everyone is saying absolutely no. I'm confused. I just want to make sure that I am doing what is best for my beardie.

I appreciate any help you all can give. Thanks.
