if they are small they really eat yet because there are food source on their shell. however, once they grow , you should feed them everyother days so their nutrient is balanced. feed them one day w vegetable, one day fruit, one day commerial food, one day animal protein...
i won't be so worried if your turtle are small because when i first got my turtles they didn't eat

I have 4 slider turtles ......

first of all turtles will not eat if they are stressed and as I was told they are not like a dog or cat they really don't like to be handled alot so if you are picking them up (i don't know) then that could be a problem---- (my turtles will now follow my finger all over the tank as well as when they see me jump in the water and swim to where I am at the tank

also they need a tank about half filled with water as well as someplace for them to crawl up out of the water and a basking light.......
You can find these things at most pet stores---

I started my turtles with small minnows, turtle flakes and also green water plants bought at the pet store they eat the little leaves off-----
I feed my turtles something everyday----they love the flakes and they are now eating worms as well that I bought from the pet store (night crawlers) I cut the worms up into small pieces

worms from outside may carry bacteria that can hurt the turtles as well as any pesticides that you might have sprayed in your yard

I hope this helps

There are so many reasons--they take an awful lot of work and need very special care. Please see www.austinsturtlepage.com for complete care info. Basics are a 10 gallon sized tank for each 1 inch of shell length, a basking area to climb out of the water on, a basking lamp, thermometer to monitor basking temp (digital thermometer with a probe is a must), a water heater, a water thermometer, a powerful water filter, a UVB bulb which must be within 12 inches of the basking area and changed every 6 months, and change the water very very very often. Feed a variety of foods in a separate tank to help keep things clean. Do not use plants or gravel in the tank. Gravel will cause fatal impactions.

You need to feed your turtle once per day. You should be feeding the number of pellets that would fit in their head if it was hollow every other day with a piece of fresh romaine lettuce or sometimes carrot, basil, and radish leaves will do.

To entice eating try soaking your turtle's pellets in some tuna in water (not in oil)-this should usually work. This is a good link on other ways to entice eating http://www.redearslider.com/entice_eating.html

However, you bought several RES and you should know you need ten gallons per inch of shell and that turtles are not social creatures so you should be considering some sort of pond or a few 90 gallon setups. They require water heaters, filters, basking docks, heat bulbs, UVB bulbs, two light fixtures and more...lots of money!

Good luck.

You need wet the food so it soggy becasue turtles ina new habitat have a hard time geting used to the changes and soggy food just is makes it easier for them to get used to there eating habits... another option would be to try a different brand of turtle food or differnt kind of bug.

first, i would highly suggest the website allturtles.com for info about pet turtles, it is VERY helpful... one thing you should know is that red eared sliders (res) will only be able to swallow underwater, as they need to 'wash down' their food... also, they dont eat when they are stressed... try a little bit of tuna to get them to eat, and then switch them to other foods/a combo... keep us posted! =]

they should eat every ohter day and they will eat anything from commercial turtle food, worms, small feeder fish, plants and vegetables. If theyre really young, they prefer to chase their food but the older ones dont as much, and also, you have to feed them while they are in the water and ours really prefers worms more than anything, also if you dont have any of those available, theyll eat catfood and survive a really long time on just that.
