so i'ved had a dwarf hamster for almost 3 years and they sold it to me at the flea market,on the day it first opened his eyes. was that okay? and all the baby hamsters that were being sold were handeled by EVERYONE that came by or wanted to pet them, some of them even got dropped on the floor. why were they still alive? and why is mine living so long?

and also i got another one from swap meet 2 days ago, this time its siberian. he was in a little 5 gallon dirty and old plastic bin, and he was together with 6 other hamsters,no toys or nothing. they drank from a dirty water bowl and their food really stunk.

i already bought a ten gallon tank and a whole bunch of toys but he's scared of them will he ever play?
he also doesn't know how to use the water bottle.
and he will only eat sunflower seeds. what do i do?

p.s the guy who sold it to me says its about 3 months old, and i got him because i couldn't stand them being treated so badly.

My gerbil is SO obsessed with chewing. She chews plastic, wood anything you can name. She spits it out so it isn't like she is eating it or anything but I am worrited and I don't want to keep buying her new houses. She automaticly will start chewing on anything you put in the cage basicly. Please help me!

i saw them at petsmart and they're SOO cute. ive asked my mom before when i was younger and she said no, but now i can basically talk her into anything. the only thing is that if it gets sick, i dont wanna take it to the vet just because my parents would be all annoyed and stuff [they're lazy bums] soo my question is, do hamsters get sick easily? like if i took very good care of it and followed all the rules, i could get away with it never getting sick right?

I have a 9month old, welsh section D foal. When let out in the riding school, she has a run around, then, when my backs turned, she runs into me with her head held high, sometimes rears and kicks out at me, with her front feet. She seems to be trying to domineer me, I try and chase her off when she does it (or just before she does it) but that doesnt tend to put her off.

I now have to carry a lunge whip with me just to protect myself if she charges! I dont want her to get into this sort of habit, and have her doing the same thing when shes ten times bigger.. any help, or tricks to stop this would be great :)
