never heard of a 29 gallon tank.thats a really strange size, but i dont recommend any glass aquarium tank. Guinea pigs need lots of room, They need 2 square feet for each one. Glass tanks are bad for respitory or breathing, since they only are open on the top there is no place for the bedding dust to go and it keeps settling back down where they can breath, also there urine will give off alot of ammonia gasses and there will be no place for the gas to be vented, so the pig has to sit in that gas breathing it. It gets dirty easier and its just generally not a good idea for Guinea pigs, I suggest getting a nice very LARGE wire cage. with a metal or plastic panned bottom, not mesh.

For short term, but they need more air cirulation then a tank has. I would recommend a plastic bottom and wire cage. One similar to the one in this site below. I have bought over 30 cages from them and am happy with them all. I house gerbils, rabbits, hamsters and even a guinea pig (for 2 days until he was adopted). It's worth it to check out the below site, it would have cost me $960 on cages alone at the pet store, but it was $82 throught this site for the identical cages. Plus I got toys, wheels, and other items for other pets. I had to $50 for shipping, but now it's free for over $39. I love this site and the customer service people are great, they sent me a box of 3 extra hamster cages when my shippment was there when they told me it would be.
I even have a cat, from when she was sick and had to be caged for her safety, like to sleep in a cage for the larger small animals. She has her food, water and litterbox in there, but the door is open and that's where I always find her. Even another cat that was caged for illness will go in there with her (they don't get along either) and root the other cat out.
The one I have listed is complete guinea pig cage with everything. If you want to check out other cages use the second link for the site, it's easier then clickiing on different tabs.

Tanks are never good housing for guinea pigs. They have no ventilation, which can lead to upper respiratory infections, and they're difficult to clean. Also, they do not provide proper space for your piggie to run and hide and enjoy him or herself.
I HIGLY recommend a cube and coroplast cage. They're easy to clean and inexpensive compared to store bought cages, and much bigger. I got my c & c cage for the same price as a store bought cage that was one fourth its size! The storage cubes can be bought in stores like Target or Wal-Mart, and coroplast can be found in sign stores. I have a 2x4 cage for my two boars (which is 10.5 square feet, or 27" x 56"). They love to run and play around in it all day.
You can find more info, and even buy a kit here: http://www.guineapigcages.com

For a few days, sure. But consider lots of bigger, other options. They CANT climb, so get a kiddie pool! You know, they are like 15 dollars at walmart! Go to yahoo and look up FREECYCLE in your area. Ask if anyone has a kiddie pool or a GP cage they want to get rid of. Good luck! By the way, GPs can get bigger than a fat, fat cat.

I think temporarily it would be okay as long as you left the lid off (for air). Another solution is to get one of those under the bed storage bins from Walmart and put it in there so it can have plenty of room to run around. That is, of course, if you don't have any other animals that could hurt it.

You need something else because if that is a fish tank you are talking about then you could kill him!! He/she needs to be in a cage with bars like a bird cage does because then he/she will be able to breath....Hurry cange it now before it is too late
