i saw them at petsmart and they're SOO cute. ive asked my mom before when i was younger and she said no, but now i can basically talk her into anything. the only thing is that if it gets sick, i dont wanna take it to the vet just because my parents would be all annoyed and stuff [they're lazy bums] soo my question is, do hamsters get sick easily? like if i took very good care of it and followed all the rules, i could get away with it never getting sick right?

Hamsters are boring. They will bite you when you least expect it. They are like a disposable pet they only live a few years. Yes they get sick and they aren't worth taking them to the vet.

First of all, we have a wonderful little hamster and they are the best pets to have! We have had our's for a year now and he is so cute and great. They are easy to take care of but they need attention so they bond with you. They are less likely to bite you that way also. Ours has NEVER bitten us. Second of all: shame on you for speaking of your parents that way! Don't bad mouth your parents that way. It's VERY immature imo! Now go say your sorry to your mom and dad. That's just not right speaking of your parents that way. The two people that brought you into this world!

Sidenote:Hamsters do NOT stink at all if you change their bedding! Rats are just nasty creatures. Don't get a rat! Disgusting!

Well, yes hamsters usually do get sick alot. This is called "wetail" or Wet-tail. Wet tail is built on stress. Being so small Hamsters have ALOT of stress. Although if you are looking for a nice pet like a hamster I would suggest a gerbil. I have one myself! They are very easy to take care of, and they don't get Wet-Tail as easily.

Well I took very good care of my hamster (named him cuddles), but the truth it is died of diarhea. My parents didn't want to take him to the vet either. They didn't think it was worth it, any pet can get sick no matter how well u take care of it. As long as u do your best to keep the pet healthy, it'll live longer.♥

You may want to consider getting a rat instead of a hamster. Hamsters tend to smell worse than rats. I had two pet rats and one died of a brain tumor that she was born with. That happens a lot with small animals. My other rat lived for 2.5 years and was the sweetest little thing in the world.

So, you kinda really want one?
That makes no sense.
And if my kid had such disrespect for me as you have for your parents, you would be lucky if you got anything from me but food shelter and an education.
Brat.
