I feel bad for ANY of the animals we kill to eat. That's just who I am. We really don't know for certain just what animals think and feel. Just because they are unlike humans does not mean they do not feel.

Just watch "March of the Penguins", and you will see that animals are not just moving targets and/or a food source.

People are by nature savage. Those who disregard animals are simply more savage or insensitive than others.

I am not saying don't eat meat, just have respect for the animals that have to die for us.

You are a socially conscious person. That is a good thing. Don't change. To answer your question, yes, the way we catch, hold, and process animals for meat often IS cruel.

I know this isn't what you want to hear but no it isn't creul. It is a food source and the lobsters are fine. Apparently you have never been to a live fish market.

These animals do not stay long in these tanks and due to federal regulations on food sources, have better water quality than most home aquariums.

When they ship catfish either for stocking or eating, there are more than 20,000 fish in trucks with less than 300 gallons of water and the fish ship fine.

Each fish has different requirements and Federal Law guides them for safety.

And yes she is right these are water cockroaches.

I think it's cruel. I hate to see them in supermarkets or restaurants with their claws taped together crawling all over each other.

I'm probably a hypocrite though, because I love to eat lobster.

I was in Boston in Faneuil Hall Marketplace. I ordered lobster for lunch. The guy pulled a lobster out of the tank and let it walk across the counter and asked if this one was ok.

I was shocked. I thought the tank was for display. That was the worst lobster that I ever tasted.

I still eat lobster, but only lobster tails that are already frozen.

Even more cruel than them piled in a crowded tank is throwing them in boiling water alive.

I will never ever pick out a live lobster to eat again. I'd prefer they just boil them and freeze them to eat later.

It's kinda like picking out the cow you want to eat for your next steak and them killing it in front of you. Yuk!!!

Lobsters are over-grown, sea dwelling cockroaches.
Really. I saw it on Discovery Channel. How they were one species at one point in evolution, but roaches went on land and had to be small, and lobsters are big because of living in the water. I don't remember the details, sorry.
So, they really don't have the intelligence to know their situation.
Are you sad when you squash a bug?
Same deal.
