Fish - July 2007

The two places are not that far from each other. I have two Black Tetras, one blue tetra and one white tetra. How am I suppose to move the tank??

I have to change out my tank water everyother day and it still gets very cloudy. How can I make it to where it stays clear?

So, it looks like my tank has ich. So, should I go get some ich medicine or should I get some aquarium salt? Which is gonna work better? 30 gal tank w/ neons, platys (one is pregnant), rummy nose, guppies, corys, and pictus. Also, my pictus is looking rough. His long whiskers are messed up - one is broken and the other is long but the end looks stringy and floppy - not stiff like the rest of the whisker. What's that about? Thanks in advance for the info. Oh, and how long does it take to clear ich with either the meds or the salt?

wanted 2 get a 42 gal hex that was used for almost 3 years...its $250 and usually new, there almost $450... have you had any problems with either new or used hexagon tanks in your experiance...thanks!!!

Some of my fish have been dieing recently, so I used an indicator to test a sample of the water and it was more basic. I can't remember if the water is supposed to be completely neutral, slighlty acidic, or slightly basic. can someone please help me here?

I have an eclipse hood for my 30 gallon fish tank and cannot get it to work.

I got the tank and hood used, and when I turn the filter on it sounds fine (as though it's working) but, although I've tried several times to prime it, I cannot get any water to come out of it.

The tank is only filled 3/4 of the way full, and I don't know if that has something to do with it.

It looks like dried blood but i don't know. It was a 12 cent goldfish i've had for 4 years! Is it old age or stress, a reaction to the water? I don't know! Please help

I have 1.5 gal aquarium with a small goldfish and a very small snail. I know goldfish requires a big tank and grows accordingly, but I can only have a small aquarium at this poin. I was wondering if I could add one more fish so that the goldfish does not get lonely (snail is not much fun). What would you recommend or which fish?

I had 2 betas a while back. Both I took good care of. Cleaned their water, gave food, etc. They died from a fungus in the water. I even got liquid stuff to help stop fungus for the second one. How do I stop it?

I just need to know ever color of the snail. Chestnut, Golden, Dark Purple Striped, Light Purple Striped, Pearl/Ivory, Blue, and Jade.

If anyone knows of any other colors then the above listed, please tell me.

Also I'd like to know the colors that Ramshorn and Malaysian Myster Snails(MTS) come in.

I have a 20 gallon tank, we keep it clean but my female betta's keep dying very slowly. It could take them up to 8 weeks before they die, and they only die one at a time. They lose energy, their body will become curved, and they will only stay at the top of the tank in one spot until I feed them. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

I've had aquariums for over twenty years. Always fresh water. I have a small one now, 10 gallon, that I've had for around 5 years now.
I have a rather large placostamus, some neon tetras, a couple of black tetras and a cory catfish. They've all been alive since I've had the tank, absolutely no problems at all.
I went to Petsmart and bought a couple of tiger barbs and four red swordtails, a total of six fish. I do have a very good filter and air pump as well, so I know the water is clean and well aerated. I also test it for chloramines, chlorine and ammonias regularly.
Within a week and a half, all of the "new" fish have died. The originals are perfectly okay.
Has anybody else experienced this with fish from Petsmart? What in the world could have happened? If I had too many fish in the tank, I would have thought that my original fish would have suffered as well. but like I said they are still just fine.

I am planning to get more fish. But only 2.
I have a 10 gallon tank housing 4 cherry barb, 2 bronze cory and 1 otocinclus. Which of the fish below should I get?

a] Zebra Danios
b] Wagtail Platies
c] White Clouds
d] Dwarf Gourami
e] Harlequin Rasboras
f] Mollies
g] Female Bettas

Just pick one species if fish and put the letter! REMEMBER THAT I COULD ONLY HAVE 2 FISH!

I noticed all my goldfish swimming at the top of my tank yesterday, so I did a 40% partial water change. They swam around for a little while, then all returned to the top (both when I'm watching and peeking at them).
The water quality seems ok, I've tested pH, carbonate, hardness, nitrite, and nitrate- all are normal. Any ideas???

I might let my friend take care of my fish, at her house, and I will have to put him in a fish bowl. He is usually in a big tank with a top on it. I'm afraid that he might jump out of the bowl at my friend's house. I've heard that they jump out of bowls.

I feed my fish every morning, but I'm going away, and nobody is coming until a day after in the evening. My fish is used to being fed every morning, every day. I'm worried that something will happen. He has never gone more than a day without food.

How do you know your Betta is getting old? Mine is starting to loose the black in his mask and is forming like.. two white stripes on either side of his head starting from where his eyes are to his fins..

Also, hes lowing some coloration on his bottom fin. Usually, in the light you can see his bright red undertone (he was a cheap pet store betta) but now its a transluscent pink-ish.

So im thinking hes either getting old, getting sick or turning into a female Lol.

Any suggestions?

Ignore the blue color, they were different cameras and the 'after' picture was taken with flahs so that you could see the white lines.

I got my betta from Petsmart when it was at a descent size so im assuming it was already a year old or more. Ive had him for about 6 months to a year.

my goldfish recently jumped out of its bowl. we found it lying still on the ground and assumed it was dead. while debaiting for about five minutes on wether to tell our little one we decided to put it back in the bowl as soon as we did it started to show faint sighns of life and we were amazed. we left it for about five minutes and it is back to normal, except for the redness round its gills which looks like blood, is this normal?

okay, heres the deal:

i went into a pet store the other day and found a product that is a coloured light that sends a SMALL amount of air bubbles into the tank. Next to it, there was a product that was basically an air pump that sent lots of air bubbles. I dont know if i should go for lighting or more bubbles..

i bought a fish 3days ago and it was fine for a day. 2days ago it wasnt as active and was floating around. Just looked at my fish 2hours ago and its fins are shredded into little bits,its at the top of my tank lying there, its still alive. This is the third time this has happened 2 my fish. Ive added ESHa 2000 which cures Fungus,Finrot & other bacteria infections. Can anyone tell me what the cause is, Thanks In Advance
