I have an eclipse hood for my 30 gallon fish tank and cannot get it to work.
I got the tank and hood used, and when I turn the filter on it sounds fine (as though it's working) but, although I've tried several times to prime it, I cannot get any water to come out of it.
The tank is only filled 3/4 of the way full, and I don't know if that has something to do with it.

I've taken it all apart and have made sure it's all working on that end. In addition, the intake tube is below the water line.

I have several of the Eclipse tanks and your water level has everything to do with your problem. These don't work until the tank is nearly full. The impeller sits inside the black box at the top of the intake, so your water level needs to be above the bottom of that box by about 1/2 inch. If the impeller can't reach the water, you won't get a suction to move the water through. And you may still need to prime it by pouring water into the hole where the water would normally come out of the uptake.

Have you taken the filter apart to make sure that it is all clean? Is the impeller spinning freely?
Does the intake tube extend below the water line?
If all of those are done then you should be able to simply fill the resevoir with water and turn the filter on.

Thanks for the additionaly information. Does it make any sounds when you turn it on? You should hear a type of sucking sound as the impeller pushes water through the filter and starts to draw new water up the intake tube.

When you plug the filter in, fill the filter up with tank water until the filter overflows

You should pour water directly into the filter. If that doesn't help, add more water into the tank. Hope this helps, good luck.

you need to got to where eva you got your filter and look inside your filter and see what model type filter you have then go to a store and get a new cartridge. thnx bye
