It looks like dried blood but i don't know. It was a 12 cent goldfish i've had for 4 years! Is it old age or stress, a reaction to the water? I don't know! Please help

Red streaking is either a sign of ammonia poisoning or septicemia (a bacterial blood infection). The ammonia poisoning is easier to fix (by doing a water change of 25-50%), so try this first. If you don't see any improvement in two days, use a broad spectrum antibiotic and treat as for a bacterial infection.

See iformation on both conditions in this link: http://www.fish-disease.net/diseases.htm

It could possibly be ammonia poisoning...try changing some of the water out. Go to your local pet store and you can get some test strips that will test the ammonia in the water to let you know if it is to high.
My local Petsmart will test your water for free if you bring a sample of your water to their store. So if you have one of those nearby and don't have the money to buy test strips that could be an option for you.

It could also be a fungus that fish get. I would suggest going to petco and see what they have to say. Good luck!
