I brought a Ramshorn snail for my fish tank today, and I’ve just been told that they are toxic when they die. (Would have been nice to know that BEFORE I brought it...)

I’m exceptionally fond of my fish who’s nearly 7 years old, and I don’t want anything to happen to it… so now I’m paranoid the snail is going to die.

How quickly do they become dangerous to fish?
I have a 15-liter, filtered tank with one largish, and one small fish in it.

Tonight when i went to feed my angel fish, i had one upside down on the bottom of the tank, he is still breathing and moving his fins, but he just stays upside down on the bottom of the tank, any ideas?

The tank is a 55 gallon with 6 angels, all about the size of a silfer dollar or just a touch bigger, 3 albino corydoyas about 1/2 inch long, and a 12" plecomous. I filtered the gravel and changed 40% of the water last weekend. the water temp is 78f

My lil sister recently lost her pet goldfish, Pippin. She'd like to get another fish, but she's not sure if she wants another goldfish or something else. What do you suggest? No tropical fish please. I don't want to have to mess with a heater/lamp.

I have 125g tank of Mbuna cichlids. I bought some ps. demasoni for the tank. I feed them new spectrum flakes and new spectrum 1mm pellets. I started feeding them bloodworms once a week (3 times altogether) until I found out that it was a mistake (herbivores). The tank is cycled, water parameters fine, ammonia & nitrite 0, nitrate 10. I lost two last night. It is definitely bloat. The last bloodworm feeding was saturday or sunday. Is the bloat contagious? I've read conflicting reports about it and I don't want to put meds in if I don't have to. All the others seem to be doing fine and have an appetite. I'm almost certain it was b/c of the bloodworms. This is really frustrating :( , I put a lot of time and money into this setup and I don't want the whole tank to get wiped out because of one mistake. So if bloat is brought about b/c of improper diet, it wouldn't be contagious right?

I had a sick goldfish and treated with Maracyn I also had high PH levels which is now back to normal for a week now. Since getting the the PH balanced the fish (3) seemed to be themselves again. However, now I have noticed some red lines in my gold ones tail and it looks like her orange colour is peeling off on one small part of her gill. My big black moors lips have turned white, not fuzzy but just white. I want to treat for fungus but not to sure what to use. Maracyn didn't really help. Should I use Maracyn2? and what about the red strips what is that???. I don't want to over treat. Could it be after effects of bad PH levels? Thank you

I have a ten gallon aquarium and I was thinking that I would try to set up a salt water aquarium this time. I wondered if someone could guide me through what I need to do. I sort of wanted to start out small before I go and invest in a big aquarium. Is a ten gallon tank even feasible for a salt water aquarium? Any suggestions are appreciated.

i disenfected my 5 gallon aquarium today with vinegar (red wine vinegar) some sea salt non iodized and bottled water. i spent 10 minutes making sure i got EVERYTHING out. i want to transfer my new african dwarf frogs. i have a 40 gallon aquarium with a full grown black moor in it. and everytime i ad in new fish they die evern though they have everything! filters, air, light, wter change about 25 % every 2 weeks. i set them in the ate for 30 minutes when i get them. so i just set up my 5 gallon aquarium.. there is someting in my 40 gallon auarium that my black moor and first african dwarf frog is immune to. but whenever i add anythign else in they die after about 2 weeks. even the pH nitrate and phosphate levels are okay. i always treat the water.

okay! so i just set up my 5 gallon aquarium. when can i add in my african dwarf frogs into the 5 gallon aquarium?how many days or hours? the aquarium has ligths a filter and an air pump? peopel earlyer toldme to "cycle" it what does that mean

There are many differnet kinds of Goldfish like Fantail Pearlscale Oranda Ryukin and so on...
But when I bought my fish it said that its a Fantail/Pearlscale Goldfish.
Pearlscale and Fantail both have different Characteristics like both grow to different lengths, both like different temperatures (although im pretty sure that room temperature is good enough) and Pearlscales are more pron to swimbladder problems.
So can you look at the pic and tell me if it really is a Fantail/Pearlscale Goldfish or if its just a Fantail because i cant see any pearlscale in this fish. Do u think the pet stores wrong?
Also is there anything I should be cautious about? because its a fantail/pearlscale

I'm interested in keeping a fish aquarium. I've done it in the past but end up killing the fish because I don't know how to clean it well. Its got to be a easier way to clean it besides having to empty the tank.

For about three weeks now our goldfish that we have had for about 5 years seems to like to float now. At first I thought it was sick, but everytime I checked on him and tapped on the glass he will take off swimming like crazy. Still eating really good. This morning he was floating at the top but when I stuck my finger in the water, he took off. He will rest right by the side of the bowl without swimimng or anything. As anyone heard of this? Do goldfish sometimes rest by not swimming around. He always was swimming around until the last month or so.
Thanks,
