I had a sick goldfish and treated with Maracyn I also had high PH levels which is now back to normal for a week now. Since getting the the PH balanced the fish (3) seemed to be themselves again. However, now I have noticed some red lines in my gold ones tail and it looks like her orange colour is peeling off on one small part of her gill. My big black moors lips have turned white, not fuzzy but just white. I want to treat for fungus but not to sure what to use. Maracyn didn't really help. Should I use Maracyn2? and what about the red strips what is that???. I don't want to over treat. Could it be after effects of bad PH levels? Thank you

Red streaking is septicemia, a bacterial infection, caused by poor water quality. On your black moor its probably a thickened slimecoat caused by poor water quality. You dont mention, how big the tank is, how often you do partial waterchanges, what your water parameters actually are, ph, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates. All are important if you want better answers.

Fish adapt to a certain ph aslong as its STABLE. Messing with it has stressed the fish out.

Ive never had luck with Maracyn 1 and 2.
To another question answerer, there is a Maracyn 1 and 2 for freshwater and a Maracyn 1 and 2 for Saltwater. You probably will have better luck by keeping the water pristine and treating with Pimafix and Melafix.

Maracyn is an antibiotic and the red streaked are caused by a protozoan. Use 1 tbs aquarium or table salt for every gallon of water and things will be fine.

And stop messing with the Ph. As you are witnessing, the sudden changes in Ph cause by trying to alter it are lowering the fishie's ability to fight off diseases. You will be much better off leaving it alone, 98% of all fish will adjust just fine to any Ph level between 5.5 and 8.5, and goldfish account for about 40% of those fish.

Leave the Ph alone, treat with salt, and change water weekly, and things will clear up in no time.
