What kind of fish was it and what is in your tank. It could be hiding, jumped out or eaten.

It it was something like a Kului loach you won't see it with the lights on. If it was a hatchet fish, check a 6 foot radius away from the tank, even if the hole is only where the water flows back in, if you have a crayfish... its gone to fishy heaven.

What type of fish is it? What other fish do you have in the tank with it? Is there any way that it was sucked up in your filter? It is possible for a fish to die and for you to not see it right off the bat. Check your tank very well, you may find it in there. There are many other things that could have happened as well, but it is hard to tell without knowing what sort of tank set up you have (do you have a full hood, open ended filtration tube, larger or aggressive fish, water specs, etc.) or what type of fish you are missing.

not in case you want any fish left, and a 2 foot tank won't be able to be large adequate, you should think with regard to the actual incontrovertible fact that the size of tank has to fit in a heater not a fish water heater as turtles can chew those and destroy them, you also favor a good filter out and a basking spot with lamp on a dry section so this can shrink the area for the turtle, also a 2 foot tank heavily isn't large adequate for a turning out to be turtle, the turtle is likely to devour your fish to boot so it isn't cautioned, best of success honey

if it is small enough to fit into another fishes mouth it is food. New fish get very stressed and can die pretty easily. check your filter. if it is a small fish it may have been sucked into the tube. It might just be hiding...there should be hiding places in there.

If a fish dies the other fish will eat its flesh. that could be what happened.

Did you have a lid on top, one could have jumped out. If one was bigger than the other, the bigger one could have ate the smaller one. Do you have a water filter, the fish could have been sucked into the water filter. Could be dead and lying on the rocks or plants. Could be several different things...

It jumped out. I lost one of my prize fish about 2 years ago because the top wasn't covered. One of my cats got a $75.00 treat
