Tonight when i went to feed my angel fish, i had one upside down on the bottom of the tank, he is still breathing and moving his fins, but he just stays upside down on the bottom of the tank, any ideas?
The tank is a 55 gallon with 6 angels, all about the size of a silfer dollar or just a touch bigger, 3 albino corydoyas about 1/2 inch long, and a 12" plecomous. I filtered the gravel and changed 40% of the water last weekend. the water temp is 78f

sorry to say,
the angle is on its death bed.
You should check your water chemistry. your nitrate or ammonia is too high probably... You have a bit too much fish especially with that foot long pleco... they poop a lot.
40% water change could be a be too much too.. the shock could have killed the angel. just do 10%-20% and do it more often.

Your angelfish is near death :( They are very adept at looking and acting perfectly normal until the very end.
Angelfish are pretty hardy fish, but they don't handle fluctuating water parameters very well. Test your tank water for pH, hardness, karbonate hardness, as well as ammonia, nitrates and nitrites. Compare against your tap water.
A 40% water change should not be too much, but you could cut it down to 30% once a week.
Your ammonia may be a little high because of the pleco. I could ditch the pleco, frankly, and get a few more albino cories. Better balance and happier cories (they're schoolers, after all)

You did not see any progression because your fish don't have ich. Ich is characterised with information from white spots purely, evidently like your fish has been rolling in salt. not something ELSE is Ich. That suggested, your petstore guy would not look to entice close what he's speaking about - which isn't something new - so contained in the destiny, take what he says with a grain of salt. The belongings you're describing will be fungus or columnaris. they are both often with the aid of the undesirable water situations and/or rigidity (from transferring or in spite of). Fungus sounds like cottony white stuff; columnaris looks better like they have been swimming by cobwebs. maximum fish diseases might want to be fixed with information from fixing their water issues. So, be sure their water is crystal sparkling - so do weekly 30% water transformations(do a huge water replace precise this second). be sure you've sufficient room contained in the tank - each and each and every angelfish needs 10 gallons on top of a 20 gallon base - so in the journey that your 2 angels are with information from themselves, that they had favor about 40 gallons, supply or take, as adults. you could upload some salt to perk them up, about a million flat tbsp of aquarium salt in accordance to 5 gallons of water, disolved first in dechlor water. in case you do not see any progression, or in the journey that they stop ingesting, you would possibly want to favor to take care of with Maracyn, which will take care of columnaris and fungus. Edit: really, salt is maximum prevalent to making use of parasite-killing meds because they seem to be a concepts a lot less harsh on the fish and the organic and organic filtration, and they are basically as powerful at the same time as killing the ich. Ich has 4 lifestages, and it is purely killable for the period of one among them, at the same time as it is freeswimming, so in spite of the quantity of mucus the fish produces, the ich will be killed purely at the same time as after it detaches from the fish and reproduces. once the ich detaches, it leaves an open wound which will make the fish better weak to infections, so a thick mucus coat is needed.

look for abnormal bloating in the stomach, and make sure your tank is gettin an adequate ammount of oxygen in the water. if its bloated its a sign of internal parisites and you need to quarunteen it and treat accordingly. with no other signs of sickness i cant really tell you anything. i had angels for the last 6 months and one of them suddenly died with no indication and i found him like you said, cept he was dead. if hes still eating i wouldnt worry too much about it, and if hes not then i have no idea... and ive had most of the diseases you can get at one time or another

this has happended to my goldfish before. try cleaning the water and it should be fine. i tried cleaning the water, but one of them was ok but the other one wasn't floating but sinking but he was still breathing. if it still doesn't fix the floating part, i think you should get him a grave or something because if it doesn't work, theres a chance of him dying. it can be a diesease too. if its fins look like they are eaten away, it will die. if you overfed it, that means it has too much #2 in his body. so try not to feed it alot
