Ok, no one seems to know exactly what Ick is!! I think my fish have it, they're sick. Please help!

i have a new fish tank and inside are four fancy goldfish and a stone sucker. i want to make a picture to go into the background of the 2 foot tank. any suggestions?

My aquarium is always green with floating algae. I thought it was the sun so I moved it to an area where the sun does not shine on it. It is still green. I have asked every one I know including pet stores and no one knows what the problem is. I have 2 Placostomus one is 14" long and he is 10 ysr old. A red tailed shark that is at least 10 yrs old. 2 cory cats. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

as ive said im new to fishkeeping and a big thank you to everyone whose answered my questions.anyhoo how often should i clean my tank.its 3ft,gravel bottom,artificial plants,afew orniments and 9 fish,all diffrent types of gold fish i think.i have been cleaning the tank out once a week.i have a filter in my tank but no heater.the fish are fine and healthy.nowthat its getting colder should i get a heater.any general tips would be much appreciated..

I had a bad experience keeping bettas, but I like the fish a lot, I now have a small 1g tank about 9"x3" in size, with bonsai bamboos in it. so can i hav a betta in the present tank with bamboos. And what should I feed it with, in my earlier experience I never saw bettas eat. They soon died after 10days or so. A detailed note on betta keeping is due required.

I purchased a young flowerhorn 3 days ago. It's about 2.5 inches in length, quite young. During the first two days, it shared our 50 gallon tank with a Janitor Fish twice its size. They seemed to like to be in close proximity with each other during the first day. The following day was a different story... Both hid in the artificial logs (I have two), almost never coming out. By the end of the second day I was starting to worry about the flowerhorn (it looked stressed, its colors were darkening) so I transferred the Janitor to another tank. As of yesterday, the flowerhorn seems to be afraid of us. Going into hiding when I or anyone else walks in. Its not eating much either. Just likes to spend time inside the log and swim around when (it thinks) no one is around. Help!!!

i have a 10 gal. tank purchased as a kit,standard bulb.not sure of watts,as is not printed on bulb.only 1 small tiger oscar.willing to buy better lighting.not a fan of ordering plants on line because i did and they died.ease of care is important,i am not a green thumb.

My daughter bought a 10 gallon tank out of her birthday money about 2 years ago. I told her to start off with goldfish until she got the hang of caring for fish, 2 years later the bloody fish are still alive!! LOL. They stink to high heaven, LOL, but she doesn't want to get rid of them, she bought 4 fish (3 goldfish and 1 algea eater). I clean the tank about once a week (I don't take all the water out) and change the filter but it still stinks. I want to get her a better filter (and hopefully that will help) right now she has one that hangs on the outside of the tank with a pipe/tube going inside to suck the "stuff" out (it came with the tank) What's the best type of filter to use for those SMELLY buggers? LOL

What happens with the cycle of Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate when a tank is cycling before fish are added. Since there is carbon in the filter, bacteria will begin to grow on this, but will they have the right enzymes/inhibitors to break down Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate when fish actually are added?
