Well, you have a lot of options -- traditionally, pet stores and fish stores sell backgrounds for fish tanks that fit various sizes of tanks. Some are freshwater oriented (live plants, rocks, driftwood, etc.), and some are saltwater oriented (corals, sponges, etc.) -- if you aren't sure which is which, ask someone at the store. Or just pick one you like.

My favorites are the "plain" ones that are a deep blue or all black. In my tanks I always do the decorating inside the tanks with plants, corals, rocks, wood, etc. The lack of a picture on the back focuses attention on the contents inside the tank. However, you can really make a tank look lush by adding decorations inside and for the background.

Lastly, you could use just about any picture/poster/drawing you want -- no matter what it is, it goes on the outside of the tank on the back. Good luck -- hope it helps!

I think you should do it.

Having said that I have to tell you that 4 goldfish in a 20 gallon tank is way too many fish. Goldfish will get 10+ inches as adults and each fish will require 40+ gallons.

i hate backgrounds. get some dark blue or sky blue cardboard.

cut it to size for the back of your tank

tape it on.

it'll look good, especially if yout tank has an overhead light
