get him some tank accerories. since your son is seven, may i suggest the sponebob tank ornament? (link below) for my fish, i usually get them something to put in their bowl. and maybe some new rocks for the bottom. if that doesn't work out try a cool new tank, like the biOrb. they r the coolest looking bowls in the wrold! try some tank accecories, 2! they make owning a fish 10x more fun!!! hope your son likes his fish's present!

Donate food to a food pantry or to a local family in need. You could also get some items from an Angel Tree. Then wrap a note in a box from Santa telling him how thoughtful he is and thank him for the special Christmas wish. Let him know that food and other necessary items were noted in his name to families that need it this year. You are doing a good job raising your son! Also, kids at that age love to help others so let him pick out a few things for others from an angel tree too. That way he will always remember it's important to help others throughout the year and to not forget about those that have lost their jobs, etc. Merry Christmas!

I think tank accessories like a treasure box or something would be neat, and your son would probably like it because it's a "toy". I know what you mean about companion fish dying. I've had the same problem, but you might try a snail, they also help keep the tank clean.

What about a live good luck bamboo. I have heard that fish like them to chew on and it is good for the water. Also, what about a tank that has a filter, so that the fish has great water and you have less tank cleaning to do.

How about something fun for your son? Engage him in making something "for" the goldfish - have him draw a picture or write a story for it and he can have great fun showing the fish Christmas morning ;-)

You could get him a "Fish tank background" its this large picture of the ocean that you stick to the outside of the fish tank, then when you look in, it looks like the fish is swimming in the sea, I use to have one for my fish and my entire family loved it.

If you told us what the goldfish is housed in, and how big it is and how often you clean it and how you clean it we could pinpoint why the new goldfish die and could better help you figure out what the goldfish needs that you could get it for christmas.

Maybe a bigger tank? Some new colorful gravel? You could get him some figurines for his tank has well. I have a friend who has the Wiggles in his son's fish tank.
