Go for java moss or java fern. Java moss will look like a carpet growing along substrate and furnishings and the java fern grows upright like ground cover perennials. I have java moss in a low light brackish water tank and also had it in fresh water at times and it does real well. I hear the java fern is hardy too.

live plants and oscars are not a good mix, they like to move around the gravel therefore the plants will never take root, and he will just make a mess of them. If youre wanting a planted tank then you would do better with small schooling community fish that are not omnivours. (ex. rasboras, ghost catfish, neons, vonrios, ect... ) Also the oscar will quickly outgrow the 10 gall, at max size he will be dirtying 30 gallons of water.

I don't know what brand they are, but at Petsmart, they have plants potted in tubes. I've had lots of luck with them. They're not really expensive and they've lasted quite a while.
Consider fake ones.
No law that says they have to be live. If you're looking to supplement the fish's diet, use lettuce or other vegetables. The plastic plants are wonderful.

First of all that tank is WAY WAY WAY too small for an oscar. They need a minimum 55 gallons PER FISH! Even that is stretching the limits. I suggest either getting a bigger tank or a different fish, because you don't want to stunt your fish and cause it suffering.... Do you?

As for plants, java moss, java fern, and water wisteria are the easiest IME.

properly, i do no longer think of you need to do one in each and every of those subject yet there's a weedkiller called Triox that kills each and everything and retains issues from starting to be for some years besides. Its very poisonous however. you need to spray Poison Ivy Killer on each and everything which will kill each and everything. Then placed Preen everywhere which will shop any seeds from sprouting as long as you do no longer dig everywhere; in case you dig then issues can sprout there. Deep pea gravel looks ok and issues won't sprout via it and the pine needles will take a seat on good of it. a greater suited subject to do however is to word Aluminum Sulphate and Soil Sulfur and different issues to make the soil very acidic which will shop almost all flowers from starting to be yet will enable moss to enhance over the floor which looks stable everywhere and extremely interior the direction of a pine woodland.

I've never killed a pothos. I've killed everything else, including ivy (which is hard to kill). Plus, pothos are better than most plants for putting out oxygen.

i always kept oxygen plants...i dont know what the botanical name is but they're long fronds with short leaves all over. they were pretty indistructible, even with silver dollars who ate them all the time.

java fern.. you have to really try to kill it.. you don't need special substrate or really high light... it won't grow that fast in that condition but it won't die.
