I have 20 gallon tank,it is inhabited by following members:
An Oscar 3"
2 Firemouths 1.5"
6 Morphs(African lake Malavi cichlids; lemon drop;albino;blue striped)
1"
Everytime the oscar is having a fight with the african cichlids which are sometime trying to bite its tail( till now not being successful in doing so), but r disturbing the oscar a lot, and sometimes the whole pack(morphs) is trying to do so.It mostly happens during the feeding time.
Ocasionally a short fight with the firemouth is also witnessed.
Though they r not hurting each other, but it seems to be a nuisance. So what could be the reason & proper solution to that?

i use aquasafe in my water and i make sure the temperature is close to what it was before. i also let the water sit before i re-add the fish. my last beta died literally within an hour of the water change. i only had him for 2 weeks and he was fine until i changed the water today. the goldfish that he shares his tank with is fine. i love betas, but something is going on. my parents each have one and they have no problems!

I had a small aqauriam. When it was first bought we had 4 fish, they are guppies. Cinderella, Prince Charming, Ariel, and Jasmine. (My daughter named these fish) Ariel and Jasmine died not long after getting the aquariam, and then a few weeks later Prince Charming committed suicide by climbing underneath the air filter.
A few weeks ago, Cinderella had 4 babies, I never knew she was pregnant. Crush, Flower, Rose, and Nemo. Well things have been going fine, and the fish were in the tank together, Cinderella didn't bother them. I just went to clean the tank for the 2nd time since the babies were born, and when I went to put the oxygen filter back in, I noticed there was rocks in the pipe. I took the fish back out, fixed the pipe, and then put the air filter in. Then I put the fish back. Less than a minute later, all 5 fish were dead, floating upside down...as well as our fake Dollar Store hermit crab. Can someone please tell me what happened?

It was his favourite, as it ate out of his hand. The fish didn't even appear ill the night before and suddenly it was dead.

Can someone explain exactly what a reef tank is? I just dont undertand the term

The fish is a glassfish; he's young and probably male. He suddenly became rather lethargic today - first he had spurts of activity in the morning (loop-the-loops and spins and bursts of speed), but for the past hour or so he has been periodically laying on the bottom of the tank. :'(

We had three fish and it seems that the ph level seems to creep below the safe zone. Most of the products available only continue to decrease the ph level. Last night my son went to the Fair with friends and brought home yet another fish for the tank that he had won playing some game! I added the recommended chemicals and of couse the ph decreased even lower. I have friends that use baking soda in their pools, but did not know if this works in fish tanks as well. Will it hurt the fish? If it does work and anyone does this for their tanks please give me specific measurings for a 10 gal. tank. Thanks!

I have had my 20 gal fish tank since February. I have never actually changed the water. I have about 10 different tropical fish in it including a mollie, 2 female bettas,2 glass fish,an algea eater, etc.I also have 4 dwarf frogs. HOw would I do a water chage a rock cleaning, and plant cleaning etc.? Also, where would you put all the aquatic life?

I have a black Mollie and he has had this white cottony growth on him. I have already treated the whole tank he is in with all the other fish in the tank several days ago. I put a fungus tablet in the tank that dissolves to treat your fish for fungus growth. It hasn't worked because it kinda went away at first, but now it's back on the same fish!No other fish are effected by it. I thought I would put the mollie in a fish bowl alone and treat him by hisself before he dies. Can mollies live in a bowl without an air filter?
