That depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

If you're looking to start a fish fight, it's one of the smartest way to do so.

If, however, you're trying to breed betta fish, it would be smarter to make one of them a femald betta fish.

Never ever put two male bettas in the same tank...unless you want a betta fight. So unless you want a dead fish, don't do it.

If you want to see the male betta strut its stuff, use a mirror and hold it up next to the tank. It's really cool. Or put another tank of a male betta next to the tank with the male betta. When they see each other they would want to fight. But no one gets injured. =)

Also the only time to put in a female betta is when you want to breed them. They both need to see each other regularly, while not putting them together, before you put the female betta in. ALso make sure to have a big enough tank.

@Crag, human beings savor severe solutions. quite everyone, opposite to universal concept, bettas could be saved with different community fish, see you later as there is adequate area, and adequate hiding places. Bettas are territorial, no longer mindlessly aggressive killing machines. they are in a position to't be saved with different male betta fish, this might consequence in ruthless battling until one or the two are lifeless. It replace into studied as quickly as that putting 2 bettas in a lake nonetheless ends up in battling, so it is not significant how great of a tank you have. Now, lady bettas are distinctive. however they're nonetheless territorial, they are in a position to be saved in "sorority" tanks in communities of 5 or greater. this helps them to be certain a pecking order, and however there could be some scuffles right here and there, for the main area they gets alongside advantageous. The severe element for this reason is having adequate tank area, and 2 gallons isn't adequate space for a betta and yet another fish. i desire to advise a minimum of 10 gallons in case you will acclimate your betta to community sort residing. reliable tank buddies contain mollies, guppies, dwarf gouramis, cory catfish, and for a smaller tank (5 gallons minimum,) possibly apple snails or shrimp. Betta fish could be low priced, yet they're nonetheless residing creatures that deserve perfect care.

Definately not. Two males will fight until death. You could if you wanted to, put a separator in the tank so the two fish could see each other, but not harm eachother.

I'm not sure if you're joking or not. I don't want to seem overly serious if you are, but in case you're not, NEVER put two beta fish together.
If you try putting a mirror next to or in one's tank, their tail fin will flair out and (on my brother's fish) turn rainbow. This means that they wan't to fight with their new comptetitor. Unless you want a dead fish on your hands, I wouldn't reccomend it.

If you have a divider in a 10 gallon tank they should be ok in the same tank, just not in the same space.

no it isn't a good idea unless you want a fish fight. Beta fish are supposed to live alone, solitude, by themselves.
