I have a black Mollie and he has had this white cottony growth on him. I have already treated the whole tank he is in with all the other fish in the tank several days ago. I put a fungus tablet in the tank that dissolves to treat your fish for fungus growth. It hasn't worked because it kinda went away at first, but now it's back on the same fish!No other fish are effected by it. I thought I would put the mollie in a fish bowl alone and treat him by hisself before he dies. Can mollies live in a bowl without an air filter?

Mollies are highly susceptable to ICH.I'ts a good idea to seperate the mollie from the other species of fish.YES they can live a short time in a bowl or small tank without an airator.Unless you continually change the water, thereby adding more oxygen .But you must also match the p.h. level. if you can keep rotating the water from the original tank and treat both at the same time for ICH. tou'll stand a "fish-fighten chance to save them all".

Keep using the fungus medication. Aquarium salt is a must for mollies. a minimum of 1 tablespoon per gallon for mollies. this will also help with the fungus treatment. Fungus is usually caused by poor water quality so you should be very careful with your feeding and do regual water changes (not all the water, 25% every 3-4 weeks.). treat all of the fish in the aquarium and make sure that the carbon is removed from your filter during medication.

DON'T put the mollie in a bowl. Turn the temp up to about 80 to make the fungus lifespan quicker. Continue to treat the entire tank, fungus can spread before you notice it. You may want to try a different medication if this one is not working. If it goes away continue to give 2 extra doses to kill any fungus that you cannot see.

Did you follow the package directions? Most of those(I don't have any of that stuff to look at the package) you have to dose 2 or 3 days, or wait 2-3 days and redose. Could also try a product called PimaFix, it's a version of MelaFix but it's geared towards funguses. Also as suggested on the first post, slowly increase the heat in the tank, stay away from salt though with the algae eater in the tank. They don't seem to tolerate salt very well. And finally, as in your other post, start doing small weekly water changes to keep your fish from getting stressed/diseases. Weekly water changes, as much of a pain as they are, is probably the most important thing you can do to keep your aquarium/fish healthy.
Don't put it in a bowl, just leave it and treat the tank.

Is there a heater in the tank? That is the most critical thing. Heat will help increase everyone's metabolism, including the fungus. Turn the heat up to about 80 and treat again with the fungus tablet. You may have to continue treatment until it disappears completely.

Good luck.
