Oscars can grow to 22" The reason we very seldom see this size in captivity is because people keep them in tanks that are way too small or overcrowded. Pacus-relative of Piranha get 24".
Oscars will keep growing until they can't even turn around in the tank.

Oscar size ranges from 10-14" on average. Of course there are reports of wild oscars getting maybe 16" and most captive bred oscars grow within the 10-12" size.

I have a beautiful pair of Albino Oscars. They are 2 years old , are 7 inches long and growing fast. I bought them when they were a couple of months old and only 3 inches long. As far as I know they grow to 15 inches, they are called Velvet Cichlids too, check this out too.

They get pretty big. I wanted to have 2 Oscars in one fifty gallon tank and I have been told by reputable pet shops and just peeps that it won't work. One Oscar for a fifty. But I still love my Oscar. His name is frog

My mom has 2. One is about 13 inches long and the other one is about 9 inches long. They are very moody and territorial. She used to feed them guppies, but the guppies just swim back out of there gills.
