FUN FACTS
1. Sharks do not make good parents! The mother epaulette shark usually lays 2-3 eggs per week. In about 130 days, the fully formed pups are totally independent and ready to fend for themselves. After the eggs are layed, the mother shark leaves her offspring to fend for itself.

2. Epaulette sharks are found in large numbers in the shallow waters of coral reefs around Australia and New Guinea, where they can be seen crawling along the bottom.

a-po-let, pronounced as written: "a" like the letter A in the alphabet, "po" as the o in row, and "let" as in Let me go... or ĕp'-ǝ-lĕt in phonetics.

it means litterally a "little shoulder", épaule is shoulder, and -ette is a suffix meaning small. It is a small military insignia worn on the shoulder, attached by a strap, that shows the rank of the officer. There is also indeed an epaulette shark.

EP e let

I don't know about sharks.

Epaulet or epaulette, either spelling, is the flat embroidered bar shaped ornamentation that covers the shoulder seam on military and other uniforms.

Epaulet is French for flat, I think.
