It was fine just 2 days ago. Yesterday I tried to feed it but it refused to eat. I noticed the wtaer was extremely filthy (it had gone through 2 weeks of no 100% water change) so I decided to completely rinse out the tank and change the water. I transferred it into a little bowl for 14 hours but at the beginning it started to look pale.

His color was restored once I transferred it back to the 1/2 gallon tank with dechlorinated water, but it still refused to eat. I tried giving him some of his ordinary pellets again several minutes ago. but he always takes them, chews on them, and then spits it back out. Sometmies he goes back to eat it but then spits it out once again. I am scared he will suffer from starvation. What is wrong with him?

Some other symptoms I've noticed: He remains at the bottom sometimes, or at the surface in a corner behind the plant. His head looks discolored and weird does not match the rest of his body. Is the water too cold or is there more to it??

hey, we're relatively new fish people, and was told that we could feed our Flowerhorn Cichlid live cockaroachs and beetles. Is this true? If so, how big can the bugs be? the fish is now about 10- 15 cm long and about 10 months old

I have three pangasius catfish in my aquarium but they are not eating anything since I brought them a month ago. On a website I also read that there should be 1 or 6 pangasius catfish for best survival. Is it true?
I feed them:
Floating Pellets
Sinking Pellets
Flake Food
Blood Worms
Tubifex Worms
Are these foods sufficient? If not, then please tell me some another food that they can eat!

I have a 20 gallon tank and want to purchase some fish. I am looking for something a little challenging. Also I am looking for an interesting fish, something more exciting than your average goldfish.

I have had a panther grouper for about 2 months and he has always been very active. This last weekend he got big enough to try to eat one of my other fish. He got the fish almost all the way down before we caught him and he spit the whole fish back out. We immediately moved him to a separate tank we had been getting ready to move him to anyway. Now he just sits and the bottom breathing very very heavily. He isnt swimming or eating. I have tested the water several times and all of the levels are completely normal, and they are almost completely identical to the tank he was in before. Can anyone help me with why he is acting so sickly?

What kind of heater, if any, will work in an acrylic fish tank. The tank is small, only about 2.5 gallons.

I just got my betta fish as a present and I have no idea how to take care of it! He lives in a little flower vase type thing. I live in a dorm so should I get a heated tank since its usually like 65-74 degrees F in my room and he might be cold? :/ If so how much do they cost because I'm pretty much broke!

I just bought a new air pump for my 29 gallon and now i have a ton of bubbles on the surface. I've tried turning the pressure down but it's down to the lowest setting. I recently treated my tank for fungus and fin rot, could this have something to do with the bubbles?

ps...while we are on the topic of fungus, I keep getting it and i'm good about water changes and filter changes. what am I doing wrong?

The lump appeared in one day, it looked like a piece of gravel just under the skin. While he was swimming it burst open and some stringy white stuff came out. It looked like fatty tissue, the lump has decreased in size. It does not look like carp pox, or a tumor, or hole in the side disease. Has anyone ever encountered this? Could it be a reaction to the eco-start nitryfying bacteria I have been conditioning the water with? I just did a 30% water change two days before the lump appeared. The tank is cycled & stable with a top filter, with a biowheel. I add about a capful of nitryfying bacterial culture at each water change along with the de-clorinator. It is a 20 gal tank shared with one other fantail. Should I quarrantine lumpy?

I have a 20 gallon community freshwater aquarium which houses 5 guppies, 2 platies, and a dwarf gourami, oh, and one otocinclus. Could I still fit a mini school of 6 neon tetras in there?? I have an air stone and a filter, but I may be getting a new filter sometime, onne of teh aqua clear 30 gallon filters. My water temp. is about 79 constant. Can I fit some more neons, and if so, how many would you reccomend?

The fish tank insructios said not to use tap water so I was wondering if you could just use filtered water so you dont have to buy the drops to treat the water.

I have had the fish for about two weeks, and she shows no signs of illness or anything wrong, but I noticed some bubbles floating on the surface of the tank and wondered if they were harmful. They are perfectly round and small and seem to collect in a group along one edge of the fishbowl. Is there something I am doing wrong, or is this normal. Thanks!
