I have had a panther grouper for about 2 months and he has always been very active. This last weekend he got big enough to try to eat one of my other fish. He got the fish almost all the way down before we caught him and he spit the whole fish back out. We immediately moved him to a separate tank we had been getting ready to move him to anyway. Now he just sits and the bottom breathing very very heavily. He isnt swimming or eating. I have tested the water several times and all of the levels are completely normal, and they are almost completely identical to the tank he was in before. Can anyone help me with why he is acting so sickly?

Your grouper might be going through shock. what kind of fish did your grouper try to eat? Compared to the first tank he was in,is there any major differance in ;p/h temp.hardhess, was the tank cycled(benifical bactera)ammonia present in the water. The reason I ask all these questions is to make it easier to figure out why he is (acting like he's stressed. You see if the water conditon in the new tank varies alot,it can be the cause.

nicely your filtration isn't the appropriate by utilising any ability. in case you opt for food filtration i could advise a damp/dry rated to your length aquarium. additionally including some liverock to the tank could be helpful. i think of stay rock could be espically considerable for the snowflake eel, for the reason that he is going to choose places to conceal and stay far off from the grouper that should probable consume him. different than that the tank length commonly is sweet. stable luck. EDIT Yeah the appropriate protein skimmer is a could desire to too, commonly once you purchase a damp/dry a protein skimmer is extra to it purchase the sales guy or woman, and is commonly offered as a kit, so i forgot to point that one by one. yet yeah get the appropriate protein skimmer your funds could desire to purchase!

I don't know alot about fish, but his behavior makes me think that he got injured when he spit out the other fish. He may make a recovery but it does not sound good. Good luck.
