Would the benefit for the plants and the general look of the aquarium be outweighed by the increase in algea or any other problems ? Any advice welcome.

In the box, there was a small bag that contained 2 plastic extension pieces & 1 little circular plastic piece (looks like a slip-on cap) or something that has a small raised square that sticks out on top if it - does anyone have this and know what that little circular piece is for?

I asked this before but the answers said that it may be the flow control valve - which it is not - that came attached to the filter itself and works. This piece is the same color as that valve but a little bigger of a circle and has that raised square.

I noticed a small square hole in by the spinning motor part but I tried to put this in there and it fit somewhat but then it blocked the flow and nothing worked so that wasn't it either - it does not fit on anything and the package fails to explain what it is - it just mentions the extension pieces and a screen but I think the screen is actually on one of the extension ends as it is slitted and nothing else resembles a screen at all.

Please help :o) !!!

Do I take it out of the tank now .. if it is this "bladder" thing .. can the other fish catch it from him ? Do I leave him in the tank overnight to see if he gets better ? .. I don't have an emergency tank .. no other place to put him. I had the water tested about 4 days ago and everything was fine. Anyway .. are the chances good that the other fish get sick if I leave him alone tonight ? Or take him out now ? Thanks ..

I have a male betta fish and i have had him for two years now. I just saw him do something i have never seen him do before ( or i just never noticed it.) Immediately after i fed him, he opend his gills around his face/head (whatever) and it looked like a "crown" i guess you could call it that went all the way around his face. What does this mean? I was watching him eat through the side of the tank, was he maybe intimidated by me watching him or something?? I dont know.. maybe you do

My tank is 55 gals and my adult fish just had babies. I found them swimming on the top of the water (no not dead) so I quickly scooped them up in a net and put them in a bowl. Can they be with the other adult fish, or will they eat them etc.?

is in a fresh water tank with about 16 other small freshwater fish (no other Betta's of course). Everything is fine with all of the fish and the water is fine . Today I noticed that he wasn't swimming around much like he usually does .. and didn't come up for food. He finally came out , but he is now swimming with his body at a slight diaginal slate .. with his head pointed downwards. He seems able to swim through the water .. but off balance. Any chance that this will clear up ? Or is he on his way out ? Thank you !

I have an african cichilid. He literally has a hole in his head right inbetween his eyes and he won't eat anything. The hole showed up yesterday and it was pretty big. Today it seems to be closing up but now there are about 3 or 4 small pinholes in that same area. What's the deal? Why does my fish have a hole in his head, literally?

I have 2 small guppies in a small 2.5 gallon minibow. Do you guys think thats an ok amount for a 2.5? Also, I have female flamingo guppy, and a normal male guppy. Even though the male is not a "flamingo" guppy, can they still reproduce? I think my female guppy is pregnant because she has the black spot behind her stomach. How long will it take for her to give birth, well what i mean is in how long, and how many fry do they usually have? Also, if I keep the fry in the same container, will ALL the fry get eaten u[, or only some?

This is kinds gross, but what does it mean when pet fish have that long strand of poop hanging off them? I know it has something to do with their environment but I can't remember. Thanks!
