I started with 2 and now those 2 have turned into approximately 200. Even the babies seem to be having babies and are very protective. They kill eachother and then make more to repeat the cycle what's wrong with these inbred fish!?!?

How many betta's? How big of a tank? What type of decor?

I love hearing about the communities. They're so cool.

I have 5 girls in my 25gal in the basement, with 6 minnows of some sort (I forget) and theres lots of baby guppies in there as well because the holes in the divider are too big. In the other 25gals of the tank is a large guppie communitie meant for breeding.

I started the tank off with 1 of my girls who has been kept by herself in a 1.5gal all her life, and I left her there by herself first to make sure it was safe. After a few days of her being in there, I put my already-exsisting 3 community betta's in there. They became very territorial about it at first, chasing eachother around, but after 2 weeks of living together they very RARELY flare at eachother, and even then it's just to get the other one out of the way.

Then I bought a girl from the store and put her in there as well. She learned her place quickley and now gets along with everyone.

I just love it!!

My fish tank temperature is slowly, but surely, increasing. Right now it's at about 84 for freshwater tropical fish (a betta). How do I decrease the temp, and fast?

A month ago I bought some feeder goldfish to put in a fountain outside. The fountain gets a lot of sun but there is a plant for some shade. All the other goldfish have stayed the same color, except this one. When I bought it, it was a grey/black color all over. Now it is a light yellow with spots of grey. What could have caused this and is it normal?

I threw some firecrackers (seriously big firecrackers - torpedo bombs) in my dads lake today. He got rather mad and stated this can kill the fish in the lake. When I asked him for an explanation as to how, he stated the concussion can break the tiny bones in fishes ears and they lose track of their direction and balance. Do fish even have ears? And can they really be killed in this fashion.
