My orange and white oranda has changed colors over the weekend while I was gone. most of it's body is spotted with brown. It's a young fish, so I considered that it might be more wild type than I foresaw, but there was no brown prior to this weekend. Possible fungus? I did notice a worm looking creature in the tank before I left, but decided it was feces. I found it in the filter when I just cleaned, not decomposed at all, and it was definitely once living. Could it have transferred some type of parasite? Any help would be vastly appreciated.

We have an aquarium with fish, not goldfish, that keeps getting algae on the walls and in the gravel. Whenever we bought the filter system it said on it that it would prevent algae from growing and we even went to the extent of buying some fish that eat the algae. But, no matter what we do it keeps growing on the walls of the tank. We've tried chemicals and various pellets but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas?

My fish tank is too warm despite the heater being set below the required temperature due to the hot weather. Is there a way I can keep it cool? Would a fan blowing cool air over the tank help during hot weather spells?

I have an Oscar/chillid? fish, and we just bought him a new 40 galon tank. I know know nothing about the type of fish and the pet store guy told me that a 20 gallon tank would be good enough. ( yea right!)
The fish out grew it & started to smash his face against the tank.(He's a very angry fish)
Since we moved him to the new tank, I've noticed he's been been swimming around with his mouth open. (although he's much happier.I noticed a dent in his lip, and what look to be like little notches in his inner lip ( unless they are tiny teeth) but I dont think they have teeth. Is anythng wrong?

I'm guessing I need to measure the height, width, and depth, but then what do I do with those figures?

I have got one Platy who is about 4 years old, meanwhile some of the younger ones (1 year olds) are dying, but Mari is fine, going strong.

There are 5 Platies in the tank, boys are separated by a sheet of plastic with holes in it for water-flow. Mari is a boy. He has two girls and a teeny little boy (who is 2 yrs old but never grown up) with him. The other side now just has one boy.

I eventually want to get some sea horses I think. How are they? What other fish do they get along with, not get along with? What kind of environment do they prefer? What about sea dragons? Where can you get sea horses and sea dragons from?

As against first going out and living in the ocean, then much later, fully grown, coming back upstream.

Recently my goldfish has passed a a thin mucousy string several times. It's longer than normal and it looks really weird. What could it be? He only has coloured food, nothing white.

I just bought a beta at a local pet shop. The person at the shop told me to only feed the fish one to two pellets every 2 days but the label on the container of pellet food that I purchased indicated to feed the fish several times per day. Which one is correct? Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

I have a 10 gallon fish tank with 6 Zebra Danios and a male betta...

I vary their diet by having flakes and/or bloodworms every few days. I usually wake up and turn on the light and feed them a pinch of bloodworms or flakes. And if they eat all that up I add another pinch of food. I do the same at night...

How do I know if I am over feeding or under feeding my fish?
