I have got one Platy who is about 4 years old, meanwhile some of the younger ones (1 year olds) are dying, but Mari is fine, going strong.
There are 5 Platies in the tank, boys are separated by a sheet of plastic with holes in it for water-flow. Mari is a boy. He has two girls and a teeny little boy (who is 2 yrs old but never grown up) with him. The other side now just has one boy.

Younger animals and fish are more likely to catch an illness than the older ones. You may want to get the tank water checked at a local fish store. They can tell you if there is something you can do to keep the fish healthier

Platies can live for 3 to 5 years and grow to 3". Sometimes they have lived longer and grown bigger.

They live until you bread them, deep fry them, and put them on a bun with tar tar sauce.
