Guppies are the most rapid in breeding. The females are almost always pregnant, and few hours after giving birth they can be pregnant again. The males are chasing them all the time. But females can store sperm, so if there is no male chasing them, they can use the old sperm for fecundation. Their pregnancy is about 20-28 days and can have hundreds of babies at one time. It's very interesting to watch as they appear as a little ball and then they straighten out and swim away. If you put a lot of plants and mostly floating plants, they can hide and can be safe to not be eaten by the adults. Even the mother can eat them. It's good to take the pregnant fish out of the tank and put in a separate hatching recipient for the babies safe. You can guess when is ready to give birth, the black pregnant spot at it's anal zone is very dark, the belly is very big and white and looks like as is immediately exploding. After birth you can put the female back in the big tank and keep the babies separately for couple of weeks, letting them to grow and to reach a size that could not be eaten by the other guppies.

How do you not breed guppies? Get a tank with a covered filter intake. Add some plant, and other hiding spots. Add guppies. Wait a month. (Less if the females or already knocked up.) Now you've got too many guppies. Feed the fry finely crushed flakes.

PS- You should read up on cycling your tank, and basic tank care. Guppies are really really easy to breed.

PPS- What are you going to do with the resulting fry? Guppies will often produce 10-20 offspring.

All the suggestions are very good, but you must also ensure that the temperature of the water is good, fish have a range where they prefer to breed. the other thing is to ensure that you do have plenty of females, the filtration system is very important and shoud have very small inlet holes or an underground filter is best since it filters through the gravel and your fry will not get trapped. ensure you also have dense vegitation face or real. Pick up a book on guppies this will give you all the information you need. also read up on Ich many store bought fish die from it but caught early and treated they will do fine.

The best thing to do would be to talk to the staff at your local pet store.

You'll probably need a very clean aquarium set-up, with filtration and aeration.

Also, lots of objects in the aquarium for the babies to hide in and behind, until they're big enough to fend for themselves.

Baby guppies need teeny-tiny food, that you have to buy special.

Also, they make breeder-tanks. Which are plastic boxes, that attach inside your aquarium to keep the pregnant fish in, until they give birth. Then take the moms out so they don't eat the babies.

You can tell when the pregnant fish are about to give birth, their bellies get huge.

They also give birth to live young, instead of eggs. Very cool, to see.

Good luck.

Start with the live bearers guppies, sword tails, and mollies.

You can buy all the fancy stuff but especially on the guppies I wait until the momma is ready to pop and put them in a gallon jar of water until they have the babies and fish them out so they don't eat them all. Or else I wait until they have the babies and fish them out to save them. It is fun, I use to have two five gallon aquariums just to raise babies in. I'd put the moms in there when they were huge and they would have them and then put them back in the big tank afterwards.

They are easy to breed & they don't need U to breed them, they can breed themselves. U don't need to do anything else beside collecting babies. If U have adult fish at home, U'll notice that males always chase the females, that's how it works. It might take longer for the first time the guppies give birth at Ur home. But later on U'll always have to receive babies & congratulate yourself. Sometimes a fully grown female can lay up to 60 babies--I've count them when I was having guppies.

Guppies are VERY easy to breed. Just put a male and female in the tank together and in about a month she will have babies. And as long as your tank has plants for cover for the fry they will be fine.

guppies and black mollies are the EASIEST to breed. anytime i get them for my kids they are always having babies like crazy!!! the waters ph has to be just right. make sure you get some short thick grass (doesn't matter if it is real or the fake plastic kind) for the babies to hide in until they get big enough that the other fish won't eat them. Guppies and black mollies also have LIVE babies...they don't lay eggs. They WILL eat their young so you have to have places for the babes to hide. GOOD LUCK...
