He is a nightmare when I want to put him outside for awhile. Iv'e tried it twice and he sits at the door and moans and howls and knocks on the screen door basically the whole time he's out there. He loves being inside and he follows me EVERYWHERE I go. In fact, I had to teach him he can't go in the bathroom when I'm in there!! He only has this problem when I put him outside. If I tell him to stay in the living room while I go into another room-no problem! He's fine with it. Do you have any suggestions, or know of websites or training books that would help? Also,I'm trying to find something he likes to do besides sleep all the time. He likes walks and he enjoys being outside when I'm with him,but when I'm inside he lays down beside me and sleeps if he isn't chewing on a bone. Is he just a laid back dog,or is he depressed? I have only had him about a week.

My 3 month old dachshund likes to pull on the leash and I try to teach her to walk nicely but obviously it's not going to happen over night. Two nights ago we took her back inside and realized there was some blood spot on her wee wee pad so we thought it can't be her period she's still too young! We discovered a scrape like injury on her two paw pads on her hind legs. They don't look serious and she still runs around without a problem so all I did was wash them with soap and water and dipped her feet in hydrogen peroxide. The first night she was ok then last night we did the same thing after her walk and she just started crying! Within a few minutes she was ok and running around again. Am I doing the right thing or should I be bandaging her feet? What are some remedies I can do without taking her to the vet (we have an appointment on Saturday so I wanna wait).

Thanks for all your help!

I have inherited a Rottweiler, Chow Chow mix over the holidays and her tail is terribly matted. Doe anyone have any tips as to how to properly comb out her tail so that it is not like this?

I have bathed her and used plenty of conditioner on her tail and the dematting brush, but there is still LOTS more there!

I have a Jack Russell Terrier puppy that's about 7 months old. He sleeps in his crate at night and is very good about it. I usually put him outside in my backyard when I go to work. Lately it has been too cold to do that. I've put up a gate to keep him in my kitchen while I work. (about 8 hrs a day). He's pushed his way out a couple of times and tore up carpet and other stuff. He usually doesn't break out, but he always pees and poops on the kitchen floor. He never goes in the house other than that. I tried puppy pads but he tears them up. I don't think that it is okay to leave him in the crate for that long, especially after sleeping in it all night long. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have a 10-year old Lab mix who has settled down a lot in the last couple years, and we're considering getting a new puppy soon.

Should we wait until the old dog dies to get the new puppy, or do you think the old dog can help "teach" the new puppy?

It seems like my dog can accurately anticipate which way I'm going to go when I'm chasing him around...so it's as if he can picture me making one move and always seems to be a step ahead of me. Is his imagination kicking into gear when he anticipates my movements or is it more instinct driven? And what about when he has vivid dreams, where he whines and his legs and paws twitch as if he's playing or running?

I am distressed by the number of people looking to euthanize their dog because it attacked or fought/killed another family pet. Considering that the presence of one form of agression does not merit or the presence of another, why is euthanasia the quick fix that everyone seems to jump to?

We pay $45 each visit to have this done! A month later she's "spinning" again. I'm not above doing it myself if it's possible.

This is the question I answered:

I was given a violation for some reason.

Oh wait, I had 12 points taken from me.

I told the person not to listen to another answerer because the person gave them the wrong information and I corrected it. The answerer I corrected said that the Husky this person has is an albino when clearly it's not.

So I was reported because this person couldn't take getting corrected?

Should I answer the question again and re-correct her?

I purchased a puppy online from a kennel in Missouri. The puppy was very sick within 24 hours of receiving her. She had parvo, a life threatening illness and had to be hospitalized. The breeder refuses to pay the bill although in her contract she guarantees against parvo. I'm out over $800 in vet bills to save my puppie's life. What are my options?

I paid a lot of money for a nice condo . My roommate is divorced and has a ten -- year -- old boy . The boy lives with his mother and spends weekends with us . The boy and his mother want to move to where he can have a dog . The boy wants the dog to spends weekends at my place . He insists he's house trained . My brother once had an outdoor dog . When my parents were taking care of this dog, he peed on their carpet . My Dad's niece said "He's used to going outdoors, so he WON'T go indoors !" . Somebody gave my former roommates had a dog, and claimed he was house trained . He peed all over the afghan my Mom knitted for me . I don't expect dogs to be perfect, but I haven't had much luck with dogs who were house trained . Why haven't I had much luck with dogs who were house trained ? Should I give another dog a chance ? Does a dog get confused by a new home ? What if this dog doesn't work out ?

I want to find a dog for my dad. his just died at age 14. he has a cat that is up to date on all shots. the pup had parvo at 10 weeks old. the lady states he is cured. she states that he is healthy. sounds like the dog needs a permanent home as she lives house to house at the present time. she cant keep him as due to her living situatiopn. i dont want my dad stuck with huge vet bills or a sickly dog.
