i recently moved to a new apartment that doesnt have any windows that my 40 lb dog can look out of which is her favorite hobby. all the windows are high. if i moved the couch in front of the main living room window she could see out fine but the windows is somewhat drafty, and i would have to rearange the whole living room. any ideas that arent too expensive?

im afraid she is too big for the doggie stairs she is a chow lab mix. it would have to be something she could jump up on that is deep enough she can get up there.

You can buy a piece of furniture called a Parsons Bench for about $50. They are about 3 feet high, 3-4 feet long, and 1 foot wide. Because it is so small, you can put them just about anywhere; you can also get a color to match your furnishings. This should provide the height your dog needs and be comfortable for her to sit on for hours.

How very thoughtful of you. Sounds like something I would be trying to do. My pup was having trouble getting on the bed (old age) and I got him some stairs and showed him how to use them. He refused to use the stairs and now refuses to jump on the bed. I think I insulted him.

But see if you can find some piece of furniture that you have that is stable, or watch the garage sales. Bolt it to the wall and if it is ugly, paint or cover it. Or build a series of boxes from plywood that can be shoved together to make a stairs. Probably won't be any more expensive than those $40 stairs I bought, and what's a few dollars to make our best friends happy.

To combat the drafty window buy some plastic made for that purpose as long as the dog doesn't chew it up. I keep the sofa to the right of the window not right in front of it so she can look out and not bother the window. Hope this helps.

They sell doggie stairs at pet stores. That might be high enough if she sits on the top step. Maybe put a chair with a cushion on it in front of the window?

Hmm - maybe you could have someone build you a platform for her? And put carpet on top & a cushion?
Shouldn't be expensive if they just use plywood.
By the way - it is nice that your dog has such a lovely hobby instead of chewing up your belongings like some dogs do!

Create a bench for her... if you have an old bookcase (a tall, slightly narrow one), you can put it on its side, glue a cushion on top, and use the "shelves" for extra storage
