Dogs - August 2007

I have had my dog for 8 yrs. I got her as a puppy. She is still doing really great, but now I realize if anything happened to her, I would be lost. We have been thru everything together and she is my best friend.
She has been fixed, or in other words had to have a hysterectomy when she was 4. She is maybe 1 1/2 lbs over weight. She sees the vet every year and has no health problems.
If you know anything about this could you please respond.

Hi! My little 4 month old pup (havanese) has been sneezing A LOT! There is no discharge/mucus coming out of her nose, her nose looks fine. She always has a little tear staining in her eyes anyway and the staining doesn't look any different. Her stool is ok too. I personally think she has allergies but vet says they don't appear until they get a little older. But even if she has allergies, should she be sneezing all the time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
**She stays mainly inside the house unless she plays with my mom's dog and then they play outside in a fenced yard (3x's a week).**

I was just thinking....I got my dogs from other people.I suppose that when they were tehre , they loved and were faitful to that person. And now they are to me. If you give your pets to somebody else (in those extreme cases, when you are forced to do it, when you have no other choice), they will forget you and they will no longerlove you???

I want to know how long after her operation can I take her home? will I have to feed her and carry her to her newspapers or will she be able to walk? when can I take her for a walk? Can I bathe her a week later or I have to wait longer?
will she seem in pain when she's awake? will her personality change? (less play and less cuteness?)
I'm stressed about it, so please let me know what to expect...

Hi. My 10 week old Shiba Inu Pup is beginning to think he is boss. Generally it is just a mouthing problem which i am currently dealing with but during his 'mad half hours' he is barking at growling at family members and the more he is told of the more he barks. i have had advice frrom the breeder and i had researched the breed before i decided on him but unfortunately i have yet to find a method which has proved to be effective. if anyone has any ideas then please do let me know! Thanks!

we have a saint bernard and i shaved it for the summer, but i reshert and i learend never shave a saint bernard, so does it take like a month for the fur to grow back in? its late, and i am very tired...and i just wanted to know this before i go to bed....i just wanted to know what the lowest temperature for a dog to stay in a dog house is? i will get one very soon, and North Dakota has very cold winters. so i think the dog will have to stay inside for most of the time during the winter correct? since it gets so cold. it'd be great if someone could find actual websites with facts. thanks so much!

my dog got sick yesterday a female doberman 10 yrs. old took her to the vet today said her stomach was turned around and she had a fever of 104.6 extremly dehydrated she died an hour later is this a common thing? she was healthy all her life and seemed happy until yesterday when she seemed to fade away

They never play with him and he's always laying in the same spot it's on the porch and i never see his owners around.. Should I just let him be or do something about it?

One time I tried playing with him, he's really friendly but they told me not to and they don't even play with him that's what made me mad.. So should I just leave him alone or call somebody? They've had him for about 4 years..

Holiday is part black lab/golden retriever. She is just so heavy to pick up and then I feel guilty forcing her in. She pees half way in which is no picnic and when she is inside she sits on the floor between the two front seats scared to death. Any other time she is happy to be with me including sleeping at night in my bed. We are very close and I want to be able to take her places with me. I would appreciate any advice here. Thanks!

I also put this on a cat and another dog and they are not having a reaction the medicine didn't kill the fleas on the dogs at all. Even though all the animals I put the medicine on they have bald spots around their butt, my cat has it around his neck. Could it be a reaction to the medicine or is it something else.The problem is I don't have any money for the vet and my dog is small so I can't take her in their till 1:00 in the afternoon. PLEASE HELP

We recently had puppies which came from my moms mini poodle and my chihuahua. Totally unplanned. My question is. How much are these puppies worth and how can i make sure that they find a good home. I dont really like the idea of them being a gift for a child only because i dont want them to be mistreated or neglected. Ok so i saved this little puppy she looks like a shitzu and she is 4-5 months old.

now i have 2 weeks to house train her. she hasnt really been traind b4.

can i take her to trainging classes like at petco or petsmart?

thats one of my 2 options.

my other is i can train her but i dont know how...

the main thing i need to get outa the way is house breaking.

so can some one please tell me if they know the price for these classes and if they even work?

or if you would be as kind as to leave some tips or helpful advice

even sources i love this puppy but i have an absolute deadline for 2 weeks.

my dad wont let her stay unless she is trained.

i dont need to hear how thats not fair i just want sytraight up answers.

please i saved this puppy from a neglectful home.

a friend of family.

but thats over, and all that matters is that this dog learns and can find a good home, hopefully mine =]

My dog is holding her neck very tightly and wont look up when I stand above her. I dont think she got into anything as we have 3 other dogs both bigger & smaller and they are all fine. She also has yelped twice today when we tried to pick her up-and keeps pacing back and forth. She is a rat terrier and is normally a bit antsy but she never does the chihuahua type shake-and this shaking is only on the neck.I have been home all day and have no idea whats wrong with my girl.Any ideas?

I took my goldendoodle, Dakota, to the pet store with me, thinking he would love everything there. He was terrified the second the car stopped and we had to carry him inside and push him in the cart for most of the time. When he wasn't in the cart, he sat in the fish aisle and refused to move. He was absolutely terrified. How do I get him over this fear?

Also, he is afraid of car rides. How do I get Dakota to be one of those dogs who likes to let their face hang out of the window?
