Go to your local library and get a book on puppy training. It will have a lot more useful information in it than you can find here. You may even be able to find a book specifically on house breaking.
Training classes are not necessary for housebreaking. They are for obedience like sitting, staying, laying down, etc... I would not suggest enrolling in an obedience class until she is at least 6 months old. Find a training center in your area with trainers that show their dogs in obedience. I have not had good luck with training at Petsmart. I did try it and have found several obedience centers that offer a more complete education for the dog and handler alike.
Good luck to you and you never know, your dad may become the one who's most attached to the dog in the end.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMU5J
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Ok, you arent going to like this....but it really depends on a lot of factors, such as the type of dog, the age, etc. I worked at a vet as a technician for over 3 years and hope my advice helps. I would first take the dog outside...untill he/she does his/her business. Right after that, praise her, say her name and "good dog" or good puppy or something to that effect. Let the dog know that its ok to go to the bathroom outside. Then you will have to repeat this over and over untill she gets it. Now comes the bad part. If you find him/her dooing his/her business inside, abruptly tell him/her "bad dog" and "you go outside" in a loud stern voice, smack the dog on the butt (like you would a child that has done something wrong), and immediately take him/her outside. While you are carrying the dog outside remind it where it needs to go to the bathroom. When you are repremanding the puppy, be stern everytime, use a loud stern voice. When the dog goes outside you must praise it everytime untill it learns to go outside everytime. It is not difficult, but can take a few weeks. It all depends on the dog.
I have had many animals, all from puppies and have pottie trained each of them when they were puppies, never to have a problem, we did have a dog door though. The dog will let you know that it needs to be let outside, though the way depends on the dog as well.
Hope I was of some help.

First off take her outside right after she eats (which that small should be several times a day) and then every 2 hours in between. Praise her with pets and very excited good doggie for peeing/pooping outside. (You should be taking her out about 10 times a day.)
Then while you are home have her on a leash and when you see her doing a potty ritual (spinning, squatting) pick her up immediately and get her outside to her designated pee/poop area and set her down. When she goes praise her.
When you are not home keep her confined to a crate large enough to hold her bed, toys (and water if gone for 2 -3 hours and food if gone longer). Take her outside as soon as you get home.

You did not say how historic your dog is. But ensure you are taking him out the first thing within the morning and the final factor at night time and approximately each and every two hours in among. And proper after he will get up from a snooze. Keep him out till he is going and compliment him extremely for going out part. When he is going within scold him, exhibit him what he did and inform him we do not cross within the condo be very corporation then take him external. Praise him everytime he does proper scold exhibit and inform him the whole lot he does fallacious and exhibit him learn how to right it.

seeing as you are on such a dead line i would definatley go the with crate training. when shes not being played w/, eating/drinking, or going to the bathroom...she is in the cage...sad yes but it work. take her out about every hour or so (as she gets a lil older keep somewhat of a schedule for her if ur not going to be there) keep the same command (my command is "go outside") take a small treat w/ you and when she goes give it to her right then and there not when you come in or she will think that shes being rewarded for coming in not going out side. i hope these are helpful for you. good luck. hopefully she can be ur friend for many years to come.

A training class isn't going to train your dog to go outside, although you may learn how to teach the dog to go outside from a training class. It's always a good idea if you don't know how to raise a dog.
Take the dog out very often. I would say every half hour to every 2 hours, depending on the dog and it's behaviour. The best way to teach a dog to do it's business outside is to not late it happen inside for any reason.
When you take the dog out, associate a word with that activity, like "pee" or "out". It can be anything you want really, the dog doesn't care, as long as it is simple and associated with the act. "Let's go pee! Wanna go pee?!"
Take the dog out, repeatedly tell it to go pee. This may require a lot of patience in the beginning. When it does go pee, praise it with the word you are using. "GOOD BOY GO PEE!" Seriosuly, use a lot of enthusiasm. Walk it in the same area or take it to the same place in the yard.
Some would say not to give a dog trouble for going inside, but I do. It is something I don't put up with. "Bad boy go pee!" as it is going.
If you are going to be leaving the dog for longer periods of time, when no one can take it out every hour or so, you need to have it in a smaller space. A dog doesn't like to go where it sleeps. A really good investment is a dog crate, they will rarely go in this, while you are sleeping or away they can be closed in it. It is such a quick way to house break a dog.
Also when they go pee inside, you can send them to their crate for 10 minutes. This really is not cruel, a dog comes to think of their crate as being like their den.
Seriously, NEVER give the dog an excuse to go inside, and it will be house broken. Do not use newspaper, etc. This is teaching the dog it is acceptable to go inside.

well i took my puppy to petsmart for obedience training. it took about 8 weeks. but it really did work. now my dog is very trained. they also teach housebreaking so that shouldnt be a problem. well i recommend you to talk to the trainer privately and ask him/her if he/she can help you mainly on getting your dog housebroken. so you won't have to pay the full course. for teaching your dog to sit, say SIT then push it's butt down and give it a treat. do this every single day for at least 30 mins. once it's used to it then it'll sit down automatically and then you keep giving it treats. once it knows what to do then u dont have to give it a treat anymore, just give it a pet and say good things and praise it. if you have anymore questions contact an obedience trainer at petco or petsmart. i hope that you keep your puppy. =D

I have 2 dogs one is an Australian Terrier and the other is a mixed breed. When I got them it was easy to train them on my own. Start out by just taking your dog outside a lot, that helps for not having messes to clean up :). This is kind of dorky but you should get these lik mat things made out of plastic (looks lik a square garbage bag) and put it outside and when it needs to go...put it on the pad... just put the pad where you want it to go. Your dog will get the hang of it eventually. Good Luck!
