In my experience, they usually have a few teething 'bursts', the first around 1-5 months, then again around 8-12 months, and lastly around 14 months (just a rough guide). Shepherds are quite slow to mature, physically, and continue to grow and develop well up until 18 months old. So typically you would class a GSD as being an adult at 18 months, although the rough guide for all dogs is 12 months+.
My Shepherd X has just had his last teething stage (typically that's with intense chewing, gnawing, etc), and the last one was the worst, he even chewed the wall lol!
Hope that helps, here's a good site if you want to find out a bit more:

Officially, all puppies become dogs when they are 12 months old. It depends what you mean by "adult" - GSDs, being a big breed take longer to mature physically - probably not completely until they are around 3 yrs old. Mentally ? Never!!! (joking!) Teething is in at least 2 stages, the 1st stage is usually over by 6 months but the large molars at the back of the mouth aren't completely through until as late as 12 months.

They will stop teething approximately around 6-7 months old.And it can varied when a dog becomes and adult it can be between 18months to 2 and a half years old. My German shepherd didn't become fully mature until about 2 and a half but every animal is different so there is not really a fixed date when they become fully mature.

By the time a dog is 6 months old it should have all its adult teeth, that's 42 in total. Depending on breed the average age at adulthood is 2 years.

Well, they stop teething by 6 - 7 months of age,but that doesn't mean they will stop chewing on things! Mine chewed things up until she was about 2,and she still likes to chew paper towel tubes, and she's 6 years old! They are fully grown at about 18 months.

Here's a link to some information on teething and chewing... http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=1517

Essentially, it can last up to at least the age of 3 yrs old, some less, some more. This link explains why this happens.

On the average, the key word being average, around 2 years. Teething is not strictly a puppy behavior, so it may continue forever. My shepherd is 5 and he still does it to an extent.
