It depends on what the parents believe, as usually nothing the kids say about this will do much good. (:
I have 5 siblings, 3 of which live at home still (the other 2 are adults). Along with my parents and me, that makes 6 people in my house.
We have 3 dogs and 3 cats. I don't think I'd want anymore!
(Our friends have 8 dogs, although they don't properly care for them.)

Well, i guess it doesnt matter! I used to know a person who had 8 dogs and 2 cats! I have 1 though, and wish i had one more!♥
So, i guess if you would want each kid to have a pet than 3 dogs... but that might be a little much...

Like 2 would be good for me so the one dog can have someone to keep company...(but my mom wouldnt go for that!) lol!

As long as their well fed & played with, i say as many as you(and ur family) want/afford!

It depends where you live. Is there plenty of wide open spaces for the dogs to get outside and get exercise and go potty ( not in yard )? Can you afford more then one dog? Food and care ( vet bills ) cost a lot. Female dogs need to be spade, males need to be netured. If you can afford this and have room then I'd say one dog for each person or more if you want. We've had up to five dogs at once but we live in the country.

ONE DOG. That way when you kids get tired of taking care of it and the one parent in the house is too exhausted to care for it you can find it a great home. Rehoming one dog is tough enough without adding more to the mix.

It would depend on the city, town or country you live in. Were I live here in Cape Town, we are allowed 3 dogs per household, but not many people know this. It also depends if you have the financial capability to feed so many mouths. Why dont you go to your nearest SPCA and find out from them.

Well, if there is only one parent and theres three kids, probably no more then two or three. because you have to feed, bath, walk, etc. with these dogs. some kids though, might be old enough to do some of these things for chores. it also depends on the dogs' sizes. probably only two big dogs and three little or medium dogs at maximum.

It depends on the square footage and if you have a yard. If it's a big house with a big yard you can have up to 3-4. If it's a smaller home, then 2, maybe 3.

I would say it depends on your house income, you need to take into account the feeding and the vet bills, also who will take them for their exercise. One is plenty with three children, and depending on their ages as they get older maybe then consider another dog. Like children dogs need full care and attention can the single parent cope with this. I wish you well and hope if you decide to get more dogs you will cope.

It not only depends on the number of people in the house.. It also does depend on how much responsibility the kids are willing to put out there. On average though, I wouldnt push for more than two

If there is no law, then the answer is what you do not want to hear. The answer is as many dogs are you can handle. Period. Be it one or 101.
