I have had my dog for 8 yrs. I got her as a puppy. She is still doing really great, but now I realize if anything happened to her, I would be lost. We have been thru everything together and she is my best friend.
She has been fixed, or in other words had to have a hysterectomy when she was 4. She is maybe 1 1/2 lbs over weight. She sees the vet every year and has no health problems.
If you know anything about this could you please respond.

Our chihuahua lived to be 22, and only died because he got hit by a car. He had tumors on his legs, and was just about blind, but he was a great dog. Someone leaving our house ran him over in our driveway. He lived about two days before dying. His name was Kid. He had been hit by a big truck when he was 12, and survived that.

Happy you know dogs don't live long, your chihuahua is 8 now? I think you'll have a few more years take good care of her, I looked in the internet and they say a chihuahua live upto 15 years, so you have a pet for awhile yet, I had a Terrier and bull dog for more than 10 years I don't want a dog anymore now, they were good friends. I have a white cat now she's spaied and two years old. good day! Jimmy.

Chihuahuas can live to be 11-18 years old, and if healthy, sometimes longer. I don't think you should worry too much, just expect to have her around and enjoy her for many more years.

The mom of my doggy lived for 12 years, and he lived for 11. She was chihuahua and he pom-chi.

They live an average of 18 years.. I have heard of many living till 22 years old.

yea, but it also really depends on the pup's diet and lifestyle and such. Your know....just like us human's, factors come into play.
