I have a 2 year old Bull Mastiff and she is always rubbing/chewing herself. The main problem area is her rump/top of her tail. It has like a dry scaley look to the area but she soon turns that into a red inflamed look buy chewing/rubbing. She doesnt have fleas I have taken her to the vets and they say its like a form of excema/dermatitis. They gave me a shampoo to wash her but it has such a potent chemical smell to it I have used it but it didnt work. So im wanting to see if anyone had some natural remedy ideas I could try to help relieve her discomfort. Any ideas/segestions would be much appriciated.

I have a maltese poodle mix that's 9 months old, and lately his aggression has been becoming more intense. He snarls, bites and growls if we get near him, as if he's afraid we'll take it away. Food aggression, it makes sense. If he bites, I firmly say no, and put him in his own space by himself for a while. Just today, he was outside playing and was chewing on an old, fallen fruit. I tried to get him to stop by distracting him from it, then stepping on the fruit. Immediately he snarled and bit my second toe really hard, drawing blood.

Right now, he's isolated in his pen, and I am at lost of what to do. I've tried positive reinforcement, but sometimes he prefers the fruit (or anything he shouldn't be chewing on) than the treat. It's getting pretty dangerous, and I'd like to break the habit as soon as possible. Could anyone give me some advice?

My dog is 13 years of age. Over the past year, his hip pain has obviously worsened. I give him a prescribed (from my vet) pain killer - which helps a little. He recently had blood tests - and he was found to be healthy for his age. 1. Is $50 a session for my dog a good deal? 2. Can acupuncture improve my dog's arthritis issues? Please, serious, informed answers only. Thanks everyone.

My Weimaraner eats Canidae dry dog food, except once a day he gets a half a can of Canidae canned dog food. That little bit of canned dog food has always been one of the highlights of his day; as soon as he sees the can, he is literally slobbering all over the floor. He chows it down really fast.

Today when he ran over to his bowl, he stopped and sniffed it and jumped back. I looked really closely to see if there were maggots or ants or something, then I sniffed the food. Smelled fine, looked fine. I can't even get his mouth pried open to stick some in there, which is probably the best. I can't figure it out.

I thought maybe something was wrong with his mouth, so I got a doggie treat and he gobbled that right down. Then I put another treat on top of that canned stuff in his bowl, and he very carefully plucked it off with his teeth and ate it, but won't touch the dogfood.

What do you suppose could be wrong?

I have about an 8 month old dog(max)..just a mutt..big breed. My bf(who was the main owner/companion for max) has been gone for a couple of months. Now max is chewing on everything, hes tearing up the couch, anything wood painted or not, he even takes books off the book shelves. He gets plenty of exercise as we have 3 other dogs and lots of room.. and i try and give him as much attention as possible. I just dont know what else to try..he has tons of toys both inside and outside. Ive tried to puppy proof the house but he still finds things.(furniture) to chew on.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated..thanks

He is a Labrador retriever/ Cocker Spaniel hybrid. We got him when he was 2 1/2 months. He bacame 6 months on August 6th. So far, I taught him how to sit, come, stay, lay down, speak, give me five, jump, and roll over so I know it's possible for him to learn how to stand up and hop in a circle. I tried holding a treat over his head but he would just jump real high for it when it was only about half a foot over his head where if he just stood up on his back legs he would have gotten it. Please help.

Thanks In Advance

Bloat in large breed dogs. Is this hereditary or something that can just happen. Is there any preventatives?
