My daughter is a profesional groomer and she tells me that this is a fairly common condition. She advised a shampoo made by Lambert kay called Fresh & Clean/Medi-Clean. It is a medicated shampoo designed to treat problems such as dermatitis, dandruff, itching and dry skin. She also suggested adding a bit of olive oil to your dogs dry food. Hope this helps!

All dogs can have dandruff. Dandruff occurs when you don't get all of the shampoo rinsed off completely. Flaky skin is different than dandruff though. Flaky skin can be caused by allergies. If your dog is having alot of itching and discomfort, take her to the vet. The vet can give her a pill or a spray to help her feel better.

Yes it can happen due to dry skin, as in humans, try giving you dog some oilive oil into food, about a teaspoon twice a week, it will help treat the skin from inside out, also dogs can get a condition called "walking dandruff", this is caused by a mite in the skin, it can be detected by having a skin test done at your vets.

My Heeler did when I moved her from a wet climate, Houston, to a dry climate, lubbock, tx. I got some moisturizing shampoo and that helped a lot and after a month or so the dandruff went away.

They often do. give them some more oil in their food, a bath and maybe some multi vitamins.
there are some disaeases that can give your dogs bad dandruff and if they get real bad and start losing hair it should be checked but otherwise it is normal.
Normally being outside they get rid of skin flakes through rubbing, rolling swimming and just generally being active.

Yes, it is okay for dogs to have dandurff. it just means that the shampoo you use is drying out their skin. I use Head And Soulders on my lab for dandruff control, and it works well. If your dog cntinues to have VERY bad dandruff problems, contact your vet, and see what they think.

They can. It just means that they have dry skin. You will want to bathe him/her with a very good moisturizing shampoo. There is also vitamins that you can give to help with this as well. Fish Oil is very good for their skin and coats.

I wouldn't say they are supposed to, but it's not uncommon. It can be caused by stress. Or dry air. If it's really bad you could try a moisturizing shampoo.

yes they do have dandruff, but they shouldn't. try a skin and coat supplement and a healthier food.
