Humping is a dominance dance of sorts.
Dogs like to know where they are in the pecking order of the pack. And though she may accept his dominant status when its just the two of them, she may challenge it when you(or others) are around to just to re-establish herself as being the dominant dog at that moment.
My own two males have established that they are equal members of our pack, but when I go out in the yard, one always starts chasing and harassing the other male to show off when I'm in the area. Which tells me that he doesn't care who's the dominant one unless his human is out with them. :)
Your female may be doing the same.

best of luck,

Dogs hump each other to determine dominance. She is trying to tell him that she is the boss. It's not a big deal, just looks silly. My min pin female humps my pit bull male. It's hillarious. We of course stop it when it starts, but it's still funny!

EDIT: You say your male is dominant. Well that is exactly why she is humping him. She wants to be dominant. It doesn't mean it's not a dominance thing just because he is dominant - in fact it's just the opposite. When you are around she feels confident enough to challenge his dominance - she does so by mounting him.

My female dog humps as well. I was told it is a dominating thing.
She also pees with her leg up like a male.

Humping is meant to show the other dog that you are the top dog. Maybe she'd like to be dominant for once.

Your other responders are correct... it is a dominance thing. The dogs will establish which is dominate, but if you are feeding her first you are confusing the order. If he is dominant he should be fed first and her next. Have they been neutered? that will usually stop any problems. and unless you intend to breed brother/sister you need to neuter. to avoid any health problems.

She is showing her dominance, and this done whether you have a male and female or the other way around.

treat them equally. Whoever goes first near to you just give a quick hug and leave when the other would be nearer to you.. then when both are there hug them with yourself in the center and say "you're all good to me."tsup...

It is a "dominant" thing. Just trying to establish "the order"
