Cats and dogs can get along. Many do.

My dog gets along well with cats. Our current cat came to us as a 4 week old found at a flea market (and yes she came with fleas). Our dog took her under her wing and they sleep together to this day. My dog was 2 years old when we got the kitten and has been spayed since she was 8 weeks old.

It's an old wive's tale that all dogs and cats don't get along.

Cats and dogs can get along, it just needs some time. Most likely the dog is larger than the cat, so the cat views it as a threat to its life [dogs do kill cats, and can do so very easily]. It's like you stumbling into a big burly biker who's 2 feet taller than you and weighs 2 times more than you. You'd be a bit anxious and definitely hoping he doesn't pound you into the ground.

Also, survival instinct, they are still animals, and still hold plenty of instincts and behaviors from their wild ancestors.

Its really all in how they are raised. My dogs will get along just fine with a cat in our household, while they will sometimes chase strange cats.

I had a golden retriever mix that would actually raise kittens.

So yes dogs and cats can get along just fine.

Alot of kittens dont even get along with other cats O_o

If you let them get to know one another, they'd probably adapt. My guess is that the kitten is scared because something new is being introduced to it, and because dogs are usually hyper around kittens.

My puppy and kitty get along just fine. They even sleep together. My pup also wants to play with my sisters 2 cats and my mom's 3 cats when we go out for our walks.

They can. Dogs are pack animals, so they are curious about other creatures. Cats are not pack animals and are suspicious. They just need time to get used to each other.
