If you can prove the dog is yours, by way of vet bill, county license or chip info, call the police. If you have nothing and you let your dog wander the street off-leash, you are out of luck.

Do you have shot records or a microchip? Do you have family photos of your "baby" with identifying marks or behaviors? What about videos? Think as if it was your child and you'll come up with some kind of proof for the sherriff and get your dog back!

That is terrible! Does the dog have ID? Do you have records of ownership? If not, does the vet have his shot records, etc? If so, you can call the police. Make sure you have proof that it is your dog first. It is considered theft - and they will be arrested. It's unfortunate that this is your neighbor 'cause I am sure it will be an uncomfortable situation.

You should call the police and file a police report. If you have the dogs parents or brothers and sisters, show them to the police. If you have evidence you own the dog, show the cop. They will help you get your dog back.

Yes, call the police. This is stealing. You should be able to prove the dog is yours. Microchipping is such a good thing to do because you can prove the dog is yours for the rest of his life!

i don't understand. if you have vet records and such it's your dog. call the police. yes you might get a fine for the dog being off of your property, but you will get your dog back. that's absurd.

If you have proof that the dog belongs to you, like a microchip or registration papers, then the police are legally responsible to investigate this for you.

Call the police....now! Your proof is a rabies certificate, vet records, microchip...or even pictures! Even if you don't have these items...can THEY prove that the dog is theirs? No....
But you know if they called the police, and they came..it would be in your favor...
I wish you luck...

Call the police and tell them they dog napped your dog. Let them call the police if you try to retrieve your dog. It is your dog.
