alrite so our new dog, miniature pinscher is in the crate at nite. he usually barks for a long time til he gets tired,or falls asleep. tonite, we're gonna put the crate at the side of the bed. is that the rite thing to do? like he won't get too attached will he? also open to suggestions but i'd like if they come from dog owners who used crates.

oh and yes- we let him "go" outside before we put him in, and we also wake up early to let him go again outside.

and he's not crated during the day unless we're not home.

Some one is taking me to court for a $500 stud fee for their unregistered male chihuahua claiming that I should pay them even though my female is spayed, because we had him for a few days. I know that it is a BS claim, but would an unregistered chihuahua even get that much? And they are just suing for a "stud fee".

I was at a party and the subject of dog breeds came up. My friend has a chocolate lab female who has come into season and wants to breed her with another guy's black lab. She said she could breed these two dogs and it would be possible to get yellow labs, or chocolates or black labs. She said you can breed ANY two types of labs as long as they're purebred and they can still be registered adn full blood and that the colors dont' mix. (In other words you can breed two different color labs and you'll still get all of one type or another). Is this true?? I just dont' see how you can breed two yellow labs and get a black lab or a choc. lab. Please advise. If there's a vet out there ore a breeder you get best answer for being thorough.

My 3 year old female chihuahua has been slowly starting to turn her nose up at her food. At first it would just happen once in a while; she would ignore her food, and would have to be encouraged to eat it. Once she started, however, she ate it all.

Now it is happening more often. I serve her the food, she looks at it, and then won't eat it unless I coax her by putting some at the end of my finger.

I have added her favorite treats to her food, such as pieces of carrots and fresh fruit, but I don't want to "reward" her behavior.

Do some dogs just get more picky as they age? She is otherwise healthy and active, and she will eventually eat what she is given.

My neighbors dog is in heat and my dog barely touches his food. He just keeps looking next door and trying to run over their when he thinks I am not looking. Is it normal for a dog to do this? Is there anything I can do to help him get over his infatuation?

Recently, I looked up a good family breeder for Shiba Inu puppy at 7 weeks. This is the first time having a puppy and i have researched the dog up and i know Shibas are strong willed, stubborn, intelligent and all that.

So if you buy the puppy from the breeder,
What is the Breeder suppose to give you? health certificate? A list of vaccinations takened? Also, are we suppose to sign a contract?

Yesterday my 1 year old carin terrier bit my little brother on the arm and he had to go to the hospital to get stitches. What had happened earlier was my little brother tried scaring my mom and hid behind the couch. He jumped up and made a noise and my dog, Bubba went after him barking, but he didnt bite him. Later on my little brother wanted to get on the couch and Bubba was laying down near it and he was acting all scared and kept his eyes on Bubba, then when he went to get on the couch, Bubba went after him and got him pretty good on the arm. My mom took him to the hospital and b/c it was a dog bite she had to fill out a police report and bubba has to stay in quarentin with us for 10 days before animal control will take him. My mom wont let me keep him, because my brother is so afraid of him. Hes only 8, but he ofcourse blows it way out of porpotion and wont even be around Bubba even when he has a muzzle on so Bub has to stay in his kennel all day. I dont want to put my dog down...

My puppy loves to go outside for walks as I do too. But how can I effectively clean her feet without having to give her a bath every time we go for walks?

I tried baby wipes but they still leave dirt and she has white fur, so it stains gray, plus I personally don't like the smell.

Washing her feet every time and having to dry just takes too long. Any advice? How do you clean your dog's feet?
