I don't think it will turn green after a couple of days, but I would change it daily to make sure there is no bacterial growth in it.

Think about it animals get sick just like humans do I have two dogs and every day I clean and change the water in their bowles if you left a glass of water that turned gree after a couple of days do you think it would be safe to drink from it and dogs cant change their water by themselves for sure so the answer is yes it is a health issue and the dogs should not drink from green water and you shouldnt too.

Honestly, Probably not too much of a health risk. Dogs digestive systems are rather strong and can kill alot.. alot more than humans can. Remember this is an animal that licks its butt, eats other animals poop, digs crap out of the trash to eat, will roll in and eat a well dead animal or roadkill and will drink out of puddles on the ground..

So the risk is rather small..

BUT... I love my dog, I think reducing the risk by changing the water daily or at least every other day would be much better than even a minimal risk of the dog getting some bacterial infection from my lazyness.

Just think, it proably is a light risk for you to drink out of the same bowl.. it PROBABLY wont hurt you, but I would not bet on it.. So would you change it for you? then do it for your pet, if you dont love your pet enough, give him away to someone else who WILL care for him.

If you are getting green water after just a few days, move the bowl out of the sun, scrub it down with some bleach and rinse it out good..

I just want to say it is a health risk , I wouldn't drink it so why would your dog. The water should be changed daily and the bowl cleaned out every three four days. Algae is not the only thing in there there are plenty of germs and bacteria that that can be harmful to your dog.

Green is not a good sign. You need to clean the water bowl daily. It does pose a health risk. Would you want to drink green water? If not, don't make your dogs.

Yes it is a saftey hazard, if ur dog drinks it, take it to the vet right away

you know what, no offense, but your lucky i dont have the will to report you to animal control because that is really not a good enviroment for a dog,

my advise clean the bowl every day with hot water and soap
then put it in a cool shady area

change the water twice a day

If your dogs water is "green" that means it is full of algae and toxins, not very health period.
Your dogs water should be changed daily sometimes twice a day depending the the temperature of the area you live ~ the hotter the climate, the faster algae will grow.

I wouldn't let my dog drink it. I think that's kind of gross. I can't really control what animals drink/eat outside the home, unless I'm right there with them, but inside the home an animal should always have fresh water. Would you want to drink green water? If not, why give it to an animal you love?

I dont think it is to good for the water to turn green and then the dog drinking it but try this.....try cleaning the dish every night or morning and see what happens if not try getting a new bowl!

Would you drink green water?

Of course it's a health risk! Clean the bowl and change the water more often.

You should be giving your dog or dogs fresh water every day. YES, it's a health risk! If it's growing algae that means it's stagnant and can be hosting other things like parasite larvae. The dog(s) should have clean water out of the tap, just like you.
