My neighbors dog is in heat and my dog barely touches his food. He just keeps looking next door and trying to run over their when he thinks I am not looking. Is it normal for a dog to do this? Is there anything I can do to help him get over his infatuation?

Yes, that's normal if he is an un-neutered male. Also if not he could also developed a prostate and then he'll be in a lot of pain and will have to be neutered. His hormones are going crazy. Just watch him. You may want to get him some Rescue Remedy at the Health Food Store to calm him down. Poor guy;~(

This is very normal for a intact dog. He will eat again when she goes out of heat. Try giving him some really good food, such as, raw chicken or raw ribs. DON'T give him anything that is cooked and has bones in it. And, you should get your dog fixed, it's too late for this heat, but you could prevent his discomfort by neutering him.

it's not infatuation...it's pheremone induced lust. There is nothing except neutering you can do for your dog unless you'd like to tranquilize him for a couple of weeks. It's safer and healthier for him if you neuter him.

Not eating is normal. Wanting to run over there is normal.

Very normal. You need to beg your neighbors to get their dog spade as soon as she is out of heat.
Is your dog neutered?

Nothing can help right now.

It is very frustrating for an un-neutered dog to not be allowed to breed. His hormones and instinct are telling him to breed, so he doesn't understand why he can't. It isn't fair to him. If you are not going to use him for breeding then please get him neutered asap.

Yes, this is normal for an unfixed male dog.

There is a solution to this problem. Have him nuetered.

Problem solved.
