Replace your fence with one that isn't see through.
Even the most obedient pits will want to protect the home they live in, so if people are messing with her outside your house...there isn't much else you can do.

My friend has a pit bull who is kept in his yard by a fence. The neighbor kids thought it was fun to throw rocks at the dog and taunt him, because he would go crazy. Normally Harley loves kids, but not when they are throwing things at him. My friend talked to the kids and their parents, but it still continued. To prevent his dog from jumping the fence he tied the dog up inside the fence. Well the kids just took advantage of this. One day the kids came into the fence and started throwing rocks at the dog again. They got a little to close, one of the rocks hit the dog in the face, and he bit one of the kids on the side of his torso. The kid was fine, but my friend contemplated putting his dog down because of this, but his neighbors talked him out of it. But after this incident, no kids have bothered him or his dog.
I think maybe a tall privacy fence would be a good idea. That way the kids can't see your dog, your dog can't see the kids, and it would be harder for either of them to jump the fence. Have you talked to the parents about their kids bugging your dog? If you haven't, talk to them and let them know that if they continue to taunt your dog something bad could happen. Good Luck, I hope those kids quit messing with your dog.

I believe you just answered your own question, go to Lowes and get 12 guage fencing and the poles it is priced by foot and height. for a pitbull I would reccomend the fence no lower than 6' then purchase enough to make a boundrey between front/back yard. This is great fencing as it is inexpensive pliable and you can even make it so you can open/close it easily hope this helps . I purchased 100' of the 3' tall as i have small dogs. the fencing and the poles cost me under $70.00. remember if you buy 6' high fencing you purchase the poles 7' to go in the ground and make the fence more secure

Electric fencing is safe, inexpensive, and easy to install. It gives a small zap to dog or child or anything that touches it. A wire around the top of the fence will hopefully deter the dog from jumping again and hopefully deter some of the rotten kids.
Talking to the parents may help, but let me share this little anecdote:
My friend Tom noticed some scratches and gouges on his German Shepard (a friendly, well trained pet). He inspected the yard and fencing for anything sharp and didn't find anything. A few days later, he called in sick to work. When he was washing his mug out, he heard his dog going beserk outside. When he looked outside, the neighbors kids had worked him into such a frenzy that he was throwing himself against the fence in fury right into the stick the kids were poking through at him and injuring himself on the stick. OH MY God! what if the dog had gotten out? Anyways, he talked to their mom and she said that she just couldn't do anything with those kids! So he took them aside and told them that if he ever saw them near his dog again, every single bike they ever got again in their lives would disappear. They stopped.
You may have to call the cops to scare the kids. They are playing a very dangerous game. I know it sounds dumb to call the cops on little kids, but it is for their own safety! You'd do it if they were playing on the railroad tracks or playing russian roullette, right?

You do need to talk to the parents of these children. Why they are being allowed to run around unsupervised and bother big dogs is beyond me, but that's the biggest problem you have right now. The second problem is that your dog is easily excitable. That's understandable because she's a dog, but you have take responsibility for her training her out of this instinct. Do you have children of your own or do you know anyone that does? Try to socialize her with children, esp. in high energy situations, like running around in the park. Hopefully with training and age, she will become calmer. In the meantime, I wouldn't leave her unattended if you know that these children are coming around. No one - not you, the kids, the dogs, or pit bulls and their owners in general - want something terrible to happen. Good luck!

I'd find their parents and tell them that their children are bothering my dog. It is so sad to me when kids or adults bother a dog and the dog bites, and then the dog suffers in the end for it - it's not fair. I'm glad you're wanting to protect both the dogs, and the kids.
Does your dog stay out all the time? If so you could build a bigger fence, or fence her in an area where the kids can't get to her. If the dog doesn't stay outside all the time, watch her while she's outside and then take her in right away.
Good luck with your problem!

Well, heres what I would do! Keep her in the house and when she needs to go out supervise her or keep her on a trolly or 30 foot lead tied to your porch or whatever. Just be sure the rope can't reach your fence so she can't acidentaly hang herself. This way she has two barriers to get past. Also put in a privacy fence if you can that is at least 6 feet high! Theres plenty of alternatives, its just how carefull do you want to be?

if i was you, you could put up a privacy fence. or buy a "no trespassing" sign. then them little bastards can't come in your yard. you can tell there parents till your blue in the face, they ain't gonna do nothing. all they see is that you have a pitt and pitts have bad reputations. its gonna come down to one of them getting bit, i hate to say it. maybe i'm mean but if they want to keep messin with your dog then that's what they get. its not fair to you or your dog to have to lock her up or chain her and anything like that. i would put up all the signs that i could find. and i would call the cops every time i seen one of them even think about stepping in my yard, i would so be the neighbor that everybody hated.

try getting a higher fence, it might not look nice but at least you wont have worries about her jumping the fence.
i have two pugs && although they are a really friendly breed, the kids in the street drive them insane so i know what your dealing with lol.
with ours, they are kept in the house most of the time, but we also try not to let them out in the garden while we know there are loads of kids in the street.
have you got a "beware of the dog" sign aswell?
i know that if you can you'll stop anything serious from happening, but if worst DOES come to worst and she gets out, you can atleast say you did put a warning up if you get angry parents claiming your dog is dangerous.
good luckx

Talk out the problem w/ the kids and/or their parents. Tell them the consequences if they continue their bad behavior. Put up a sign that says "ATTACK DOG!" Even if the dog will not attack, it scares ppl, and they wont come near. If that is to severe, let the sign say " DO NOT MESS W/ DOG! _____$ FEE!" If you put up a sign that says they have to pay you money they wont come with in MILES of the dog!!! Even if you wont make them actually pay, what they dint know wont hurt them! Good Luck, and thanks for being such a careful owner!
