Bleeding from the anus is not normal - get a second opinion from another vet ASAP. Have him checked for whipworm. If that isnt the problem it could be irritable bowel disease - BUT this ONLY a suggestion, you must get this diagnosed by a vet and have the proper tests done. That is the only way you will find out what is wrong. Nobody here can tell you.

I'm sorry, but not even the best of us with veterinary experience can answer your question well, because we can't examine your dog. It might have something as simple as hemerrhoids to as serious as cancer. Either call your vet and directly ask, "What is the reason my dog is bleeding?", or get another vet and ask the same question the same way. Sometimes the vet will assume you understand when you don't. You are paying him/her to tell you what is wrong with your dog, and if you don't get the service you pay for, you must make it clear you aren't happy.

If your vet wasn't able to answer your question, go to a different vet. Vets do vary in their levels of knowledge and experience. You might find that a different vet has the answers you need.

Bleeding with each bowel movement may not be a symptom of cancer. Does he have any other symptoms such as decreased appetite or lethargy (tiredness)? Be sure to tell the new vet any other symptoms, as well as what he's been eating lately. The vet might want a stool sample, too.

See another Vet. Sorry but your dog should be bleeding from his butt and your Vet should not be stymied about it. Maybe he has an obstruction? Go to another Vet and get an X-ray.

Go to another vet. There has to be a reason and a good vet will investigate.

My dog had that problem too. I change her food and her butt cleared up. Your dog has a sensitive stomach. Change your food to a sensitive diet formula.
