When I first got my pup I put a handful of dog food in an empty plastic water bottle, if the neck is small you can cut it off so there is a big enough opening for him, but make sure the cut end isn't sharp. He will chase the bottle around like crazy until he figures out that he has to tip it to get out some of the food...it's good fun.

You can try getting him a Kong toy, the rubber cone shaped thing you put treats in. I give mine a kong stuffed with peanut butter and then frozen, or liver sausage. I tried putting a milk bone in there, but that didnt last long. Also, we do fetch down the hallway (even though she doesnt really fetch that well) and then I end up chasing her around the house for the toy... she loves being chased and chasing me! Also, rolling a bunch of different balls down the hallway, and then go to the other end and do the same thing again.

Kong stuffed with peanut butter or treats will keep him busy.
Also fetch is a good one. As long as the pup knows the rules of bringing it back you could go watch a movie and just keep tossing it for him and he'll still love you for it.
Try teaching him lots of new tricks. Like little kids a pups brain soaks things up like a sponge so now is the best time to teach him fun tricks or behaviors.
