I'm noticing an alarming new trend here on Y answers and I wondered if anyone else has noticed or can clarify...? People, when responding to the "I want to breed my pet" questions say that those of us who are against it are breeders ourselves and don't want the competition...WTF? How many times do I have to explain that I am an animal shelter volunteer, I've seen healthy dogs and cats die, I get sick to death of all the jerks that don't deserve a pet, and I don't want any more homeless animals? How do I explain this to these people? All mature comments appreciated...

I'm really nervous for her; this is my first puppy so I don't have any experience in taking care of her after the surgery. She's going to stay over night at the vet; should I prepare special meal for her after I pick her up from the vet? Is there anything special I should do for her? I want her to be comfortable when she comes home.

I am thinking of purchasing this item from the as seen on tv store. Its called the shed ender. Has anyone used it? Does it really work? Because no matter what brush I use, my dog is always shedding!! don't know why. He's a chihuahua/corgi mix. He's a pretty small dog but gets his coat all over my bed when he jumps on it. Has anyone have experience with this brush?

My friend is buying a female Puggle puppy for her child. The breeder said the puppy has a Umbillical Hernia which means that there is a tiny big of fat where the umbillical cord was and that it may go away on it's own or fixed when it is spayed. We have never heard of this before and are a bit worried bcz we dont know if its long term and could cost a lot. Has anyone ever heard of this or has had a dog that has had this and is it recommended to buy the dog anyway?

my little 1 year old male maltese is, i find just a shadow of himself.
i hardly recognise him. he kind of just wanders from place to place and watches the others dogs play & is generally grumpy.
he is not eating & not as "happy" as he used to be.
he has always been picky but now he is not even eating his fav. home cooked meals.
he has cronic constiation & did have some special diets from the vet.
now i have gone to 2 different vets. they have done blood tests, x rays etc and can't find anything wrong with him.
now his symptoms are:
- sleepy
- no appetite
- nibbles at his food here and there
- doesn't play
- somewhat in a daze
- moody
- slight diarreah
- slightly swollen lymph nodes (according to doc)
and worst of all
- he all of a sudden, sometimes every day sometimes not for 2 days, squeels in absolute pain.
- he then won't lie down, jsut stays sitting.
call me paranoid about my dog but i am not imagining things! there is something wrong but what?? help!
do i look 4 another vet? help

I was told by a breeder. She breeds different types of dogs too. I have two Manchesters, weighing 10&15 lbs and a
little Chihuahua, weighing 3 lbs. They don't mean to play ruff. It like play biting. When the Chihuahuaruns, the Manchesters chases her, she stops and they run her down, just because of her stopping. They don't mean to do that. I don't leave her alone in the house, without putting her in a cage for protection. They could get to ruff and not really mean it, because of the weight difference.

also im looking for a quality dog food, the ones that are at petco arent much better than the stuff you get for 7 bucks at the grocery store. for instance i looked at science diet, and i thought it was going to be a really good food cuz it was all expensive, but the very first ingridient was ground yellow corn, and the second was chicken by-product...i also looked at nutro max, and it was no good, so does anyone know any good dog food i can feed my dog?? thank you!

i brush my jack russell a lot and we feed him pedigree natural with nature's gift dog meat mixed with it. he is provided with fresh water and taken on regular walks as well as longer ones on the weekend. what else can stop him from shedding?
we will be switching to a better brand of dog food (beneful) once i get some money from working.
he used to shed a lot because he came from an owner who didnt take care of him properly but a year on, his fur has grown out beautifully though he still sheds a little, i know thats only natural.
